Twelve-year-old Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school...again. No matter how hard he tries, he can't seem to stay out of trouble. But can he really be expected to stand by and watch while a bully picks on his scrawny best friend? Or not defend himself against his pre-algebra teacher when she turns into a monster and tries to kill him? Of course, no one believes Percy about the monster incident; he's not even sure he believes himself.

Zane Obispo spends every day exploring the sleeping volcano in his backyard. "The Beast", as he calls it, is the one place where he can escape other kids, who make fun of him because he has a limp and walks with a cane. After a plane crashes into The Beast, a mysterious girl named Brooks shows up at Zane's doorstep, insisting that they meet at the volcano, where she will reveal a terrible secret. Zane agrees. Brooks tells him that the volcano is actually a centuries-old prison for the Mayan god of death, whose destiny is directly tied to Zane's.

My name is Chase Cooper, and I'm a 6th grade ninja. It's my first day at a different school and the only person I know is my cousin, Zoe (but she might be a little too cool for me). I was just another scrawny kid until a group of ninjas recruited me into their clan. It was a world of trouble I wasn't prepared for, which is why I kept this diary (or "chronicle" as my dad would call it) - to warn other kids about the dangers of becoming a ninja. They say history is destined to repeat itself...well, not if I can help it.

Publisher's Summary
Who cut off Medusa's head? Who was raised by a she-bear? Who tamed Pegasus? And whatever happened to that Golden Fleece?
It takes a demigod to know the answers, and Percy Jackson can fill you in on all the daring deeds of Perseus, Atalanta, Bellerophon, and the rest of the major Greek heroes. Told in the funny, irreverent style listeners have come to expect from Percy ("I've had some bad experiences in my time, but the heroes I'm going to tell you about were the original old-school hard-luck cases. They boldly screwed up where no one had screwed up before...."), this story collection will become the new must-have classic for Rick Riordan's legions of devoted fans - and for anyone who needs a hero.

The is Book is My Hero!
When I found there was another book in Greek myths, I had to show it to my son. He knows a lot of Greek myths and loves every single one. He especially likes Heracles, and was overjoyed when he listened to that part.

Very good read
I really enjoyed this book. Percy’s taste on the heroes of yore is hilarious. Rick Riordan writes, as always, with a sharp wit and a good idea of how to keep kids and young adults engaged. Only fault I can find is the pronounciation of cyclops. It’s pronounced SY-klops, and Jesse pronounces it like: sy-KLO-pees. Otherwise, great listen. #readriordan #persassy

Another informative read
I think I enjoyed this one more than Greek Gods because it was longer and it contained the stories of heroes from Greek mythology that I wanted to learn more about but didn't want to struggle through by reading the original myths. The narrator was alright and told the story with the charisma I was expecting from Percy Jackson, although his voices started to sound the same. If you're a fan of Percy Jackson or curious about myths from Greek mythology, then this book is for you.

Funny retelling of Greek mythology; great narrator
The best Percy Jackson narrator returns with another installment of mythological stories, this time involving the Greek heroes. Both my 13 year old and I enjoyed listening to it, and looked forward to each night's installment.
My only complaint is that I thought Riordan went a bit too far trying to make the stories relevant to modern kids. I have no problem with that in his pure fiction books, but in these retellings of mythology, the stories would stand on their own without the topical references to modern celebrities and technology.
That said, this book is a great intro to mythology, especially for tweens and early teens.

Juvenile
I have enjoyed Percy Jackson in the past, but this one is extremely juvenile. It is supposed to set in Ancient Greece, but is heavily peppered with modern idioms and euphemisms. The author uses a lot of references to modern music and movies, it's very annoying. The narrator does a really good job as usual, especially considering the poor material he's given to work with. Do not waste your money or a credit on this book.
