This story envelops the listener in the Amish world as it clashes with the modern world. I feel like I learned so much from this story; hope, faith, sacrifice, and forgiveness. But most of all, it teaches us about love.

Perfectly told by narrator, suspenseful novel of a community not very understood. Keeps you guessing who committed the crime and why; educates the reader on a small mostly forgotten religion.

I listened to this whole book in about 4-5 days, very relatable characters and for some reason got me into a country-fall mood. I found this story to be less “rough” as some of Picoult’s other works even though it still deals with ethical dilemmas and was just as enjoyable.

Impressively written and performed. The story and characters come to life exposing us to new and familiar experiences. I’m so impressed with this author and the exceptional stories she weaves for us to enjoy and reflect on.
