Never having run for office before, Katie Porter charted a new path in 2018 when she was elected to Congress as a Democrat in historically conservative Orange County, California. Underestimated as a single mom and chided for her progressive values, Katie defied expectations. Then, using her signature whiteboard, she began to take CEOs and corrupt government officials to task in Congressional hearings. The videos went viral, introducing Americans to her no-bullshit style, and making her a coveted guest on cable news and late-night television.

Publisher's Summary
This program is read by the author with a special appearance from his mom.
An intimate and light-hearted memoir by viral sensation and three-time Emmy-nominated musical comedian Randy Rainbow that takes listeners through his life—the highs, the lows, the lipstick, the pink glasses, and the show tunes
Randy Rainbow, the man who conquered the internet with a stylish pair of pink glasses, an inexhaustible knowledge of Broadway musicals, and the most gimlet-eyed view of American politics this side of Mark Twain finally tells all in Playing with Myself, a memoir sure to cause more than a few listeners to begin singing one of his greatest hits like “A Spoonful of Clorox” or “Cover Your Freakin’ Face”.
As Randy has said, “There’s so much fake news out there about me. I can’t wait to set the record straight and finally give people a peek behind the green screen.” And set the record straight he does. Playing with Myself is a firsthand account of the journey that led Randy Rainbow from his childhood as the over-imaginative, often misunderstood little boy who carried a purse in the second grade to his first job on Broadway as the host at Hooters and on to the creation of his trademark comedy character. In chapters titled “Pajama Bottoms” (a look back at the days when he wore pajama bottoms on his head to pretend he was Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz), “Yes, It’s My Real Name, Shut Up!” (no explanation necessary...) and “Pink Glasses” (a rose-colored homage to his favorite accessory), Playing with Myself is a memoir that answers the question “Can an introverted musical theatre nerd with a MacBook and a dream save the world, one show tune at a time?”
A Macmillan Audio production from St. Martin's Press.

I Laughed , I Cried and I want to do it Again!
It is Even Better than I expected and I expected it to be Great!
I actually pre-ordered the book when RR tweeted about it. Before I started reading the book I also ordered it on Audible. I knew I would like the book and thought how much better it would be with RR reading. I was right on both counts!
The Book is Great, it's actually quite an intimate look at RRs' life. His humour is Everywhere, but there are also some serious times and situations shared on the pages. I both Laughed and Cried , but mostly Laughed.
I did Not want the book to end! It was a very Interesting look at His life. Well written and very descriptive. Turns out RR is Pretty Darn Good with Words!
Then I opened the Audible App and went to a Happy Place while RR read His Book to Me! It is Fantastic to hear Him tell His Story.
The Only thing that would make the Book better is if RR and I were having cocktails while He was telling me about His Life. After watching His online work and seeing & hearing the details and nuances that are what makes Him So Special and Unique. Listening to Him read this book was So Enjoyable. My reactions were even stronger than when I read the book. I Laughed louder and more often, I Cried harder ( not more often though!) and I smiled through the rest of it!
Now I'll wait for the Movie to come out..., then the Broadway Performance....
If you enjoy Randy Rainbow's Comedy, You'll Enjoy Hit Book!

Love the book, but love Randy's work more
This is a fun book, a wonderful little gift from Randy for those of us who are fascinated by his talent. I listened to the book while training for a 5k run, and it made the ground fly under my feet--so many laughs on the trail!
I was a bit disappointed to not know more about how he developed musically. Sure, he was constantly cast in school and local musicals, and I know he doesn't read music. But a voice and ear like that surely has had some training? If so, when, where, how? Did he sing in school choirs? How did his teachers handle this talented boy/teen who clearly wasn't run of the mill in any respect? I would rather know more about these details than about the minutiae of all the celebrities who wisely (and sincerely) became affiliated with Randy.
Randy is a great reader, for sure. But the more I listened, the more I just wanted to hear him sing and watch him play. I finished listening to the book as soon as possible so that I could go Youtube diving for all those Randy Rainbow sketches I missed. As it stands, this book is a great guide to Randy's legacy and a huge inspiration to anyone who is an introverted artist. Randy, I raise my pink glasses to you!

It’s Randy Rainbow! What’s not to love?!
I just recently signed up for Audible and Randy Rainbow is the reason why! I immediately started bingeing this audiobook - what an amazing, funny, poignant, sad, vulnerable and well written memoir it is! I’ve seen Randy perform live twice (so great!) and have never missed one of his videos or posts on all the various social media sites. He is a genius. You need to get this!

I definitely laughed and I also actually cried; more than once. Randy is delightful. If you enjoy his show-tune satire, I assume you'll also love this book.

oMG I love this guy!
I gave this story 4 stars for performance because it sounded at times more like a reading than a performance. But what a story! Encore! I hope Randy gives us another memoir in the near future.
