Publisher's Summary
Freaked out by her fortieth birthday, the creator and executive producer of Never Have I Ever reflects on the importance of good friends--and the mortifying obligations it takes to keep them.
Yes, Mindy Kaling is the genial Hollywood celebrity who posted twelve selfies from a single Oscar party, but that smile took work. In this hilariously honest essay, Mindy reflects on the social anxiety that she traces back to the slices of white cheese her parents served at her ninth birthday party. Little has changed in thirty years--least of all the fear of being judged forever. It’s probably best to just back away.
From the acclaimed writer, actor, director, producer, and New York Times bestselling author comes Nothing Like I Imagined. In these essays, Mindy Kaling shares the latest chapters of a multitasking life in Hollywood. Read or listen to them in a single sitting. Either way, they’re pitch-perfect.

Save your money or credit
Cute and funny short story. Emphasis on short. I liked the preview and purchased without looking or thinking. I wish I had seen that it was less than 30mins long before I had. Although I did find it funny and entertaining, it's definitely not worth a credit.

20 Minute Story
Yeah— I wish I would have noticed this was only a 20 minute story before using a whole credit on it.

disappointed but thrilled?
what the hell? I spent a 13 dollar credit on a 20 minute story. I was disappointed. I was so into the story and love the author but when it ended I was left feeling shortchanged. I wait for credits, pay for credits and they are priceless. when comparing this brief experience with something like Michelle Obama Becoming, you've got to be kidding. provide appropriate content for the money invested. boo! on you!

Trying to make friends
(Wo)man, I related with so much! I currently have my husband and my sister as best friends and can see Mindy as one :) I love everything about she was open and honest with her social anxiety and how she is such an awesome person who embraces her fears by allowing others in with this piece.

Who would have known Mindy Kaling had social anxiety? It was cute to hear her experiences of making new friends and attending birthday parties.

4/5 Estrellas
Like Me (But Keep Away).

It’s a rant of people who can’t socialize
Blah blah blah this whole thing is just a rant of a lady who can’t or don’t like to socialize, hate talking to people because she’s too insecure of her being different, and not even trying to change because she thinks it’s other people’s problem and never hers. She still want to be loved by others without putting any effort, but not too much. Demanding much?! Not to mention the baby voice that’s utterly obnoxious that I can’t stand to listen even with 2x speed.

Insufferable voice takes away from the story
I would have enjoyed this more if it wasn't for this horrendous baby-like voice so many American women are using nowadays.

eh
MK can write and read her own words with the best of them. This was a throwaway effort at best. Came across as a couple of chapters from previous work that hadn’t made the cut.
