Publisher's Summary

Can't say no to fattening foods, carbs, or alcohol? You may be one of the millions of people who are sugar sensitive. Many people who suffer from sugar sensitivity don't even know it - and they continue to consume large quantities of sweets, breads, pasta, or alcohol. These foods can trigger exhaustion or low self-esteem, yet their biochemical impact makes those who are sugar sensitive crave them even more. This vicious cycle can continue for years, leaving sufferers overweight, fatigued, depressed, and sometimes alcoholic.

Dr. Kathleen DesMaisons came up with the solution and published it in her revolutionary book, Potatoes Not Prozac. In that instant best seller, she provided the tools needed to overcome sugar dependency, including self-tests and a step-by-step, drug-free program with a customizable diet designed to change your brain chemistry. But now, armed with years of further research and patient feedback, Dr. DesMaisons has improved her groundbreaking plan to make it even more effective and easier to follow. Join the thousands who have successfully healed their addiction to sugar, lost weight, and attained maximum health and well-being by using this updated, innovative plan.

Spot On!

This book is spot on! It is as if the author was writing about me specifically. I am so happy to have found this book and connected with Kathleen. This is as they say ‘game changer’.

Needs a PDF

Interesting concept but it really needs an accompanying PDF with the eating plan laid out.

Important health news you MUST learn

No one else has put together the magic three influences on our ability to function healthily and happily and without mysteriously always-increasing weight and waistlines. It's not JUST blood sugar. It's not JUST serotonin. It's not JUST Beta--endorphins... all three of these internal chemicals have to be in balance at the right time of the day for humans to function optimally. Her easy 7-step program helps you balance these factors, enjoy virtually any healthy food, and does it without weighing or measuring food or doing complicated calculations of intake ratios. Thousands around the world have benefited from Dr. DesMaisons' groundbreaking synthesis of serious, rigorously scientific testing and research. Happily, she has updated her research and it's not just theory anymore (as it was 20 years ago when first published). New sections address the feelings component that, let's face it, derail our attempts at weight loss over and over again. The part that raised goosebumps for me was, "It is not your fault... you likely have a hereditary sensitivity to sugar that is playing havoc with your internal systems." I am not stupid, weak, crazy, or an undisciplined rage-aholic. I inherited the condition and simple alterations to what and when I eat can fix this. AMAZing.

Great and relatable book.

I really enjoy this book, found it informative. Almost stopped listening in the first chapter, found it to be a waste of time. Seemed like the author just patting her self on the back.

So much irritating filler.

What is it with self-help books? Page after page of the author convincing you why what you are reading is worth while. Then repeat the same ideas in dozens of different ways.
I would guess that the important ideas of this book might take 2 hours instead of the over 8 hours that it actually takes to listen to the whole thing but I lost patience around chapter 2.
