Publisher's Summary
From the New York Times best-selling author of The Never Game and the Lincoln Rhyme novels comes a twisty psychological thriller packed into a terrifying 24 hours....
When paranoid schizophrenic killer Michael Hrubek escapes from an institution, there’s no doubt of where he’s headed: to find the woman who put him away and to finally get his revenge.
Lis Atcheson knows he’s out there - the man who killed two of her students. He’s haunted every sleepless night ever since she testified against him. Now, the nightmares are coming true. He’s watching...and waiting...and he’s going to take Lis to hell with him.
With a massive storm coming - in more ways than one - Lis can barely prepare for the dark cloud that approaches, threatening to take everything away from her in one horrifying sweep....

Better than most Jeffery Deaver
There have been a couple Jeffery Deaver books I’ve not been able to make it through, but this one held my interest throughout in a very interesting way with its twists and turns.

Too many disfunctional people here
I'm not used to complete sex scenes in Deaver's work. I didn't need that. I listened to about 2 hours, enough to know if I want to continue, and there are about 5 story lines going on here. I trust that Deaver can macrame all the threads together into a good story, but this is not for me. There's enough weirdness in the world that I don't need psychopaths and cheating family members in my books.

Not for Audio reading
This may work as a book read, but as an audio book I was constantly having to back up and re-listen and still had problems. It's hard to believe this is written by the same author who came up with Lincoln Ryme and Katherine Dance. The narrator was also a poor choice and I found it difficult to differentiate between characters. I give it 3 stars only because I've enjoyed so much of Deaver's work.

Too graphic
it was too sexually graphic for my taste. It seemed to deviate from the Jeffery Deaver style. I tremendously enjoy the Lincoln Rhyme series.

Didn’t see it coming!
Enjoyed the book. However, it felt like there was some rapid closure as the wrap up wasn’t indicated throughout the story. The references were vague and it was connecting dots with a wide magic marker. I enjoyed it but the ending felt very rushed.

Loved it
Love how you never expect what is next in Deaver’s books. His plots are always unique and genius.

Enjoyed it. Mental illness and humanity.
Story flowed nicely. Lots of characters that overlapped. Enjoyed listening and was not too intricate.

No need to pray
This book will put you to sleep without prayer! SLOW
Just too much minutiae and not enough action
