The secret behind France's astonishingly well-behaved children is here. When American journalist Pamela Druckerman has a baby in Paris, she doesn't aspire to become a "French parent". French parenting isn't a known thing, like French fashion or French cheese. Even French parents themselves insist they aren't doing anything special. Terrible jokes, but good content
She makes several jokes through the book, but most of them are awkward instead of funny... In the first couple of chapters, I was quite anxious with the fact that she hasn’t gone through any specific training/ education (MD or PhD training) that would give her credentials to reference good studies or good practices based on sound evidence based medicine, but I did my own research and found most of her references accurate. She probably has a good scientific/ medical advisor that went over her manuscript.
The most annoying part of my experience listening to her book are her senseless jokes, but other than that the SWAP strategy can be a game changer, so she gets enough points for that.

Life/sleep savior!
Unlike some other sleep books, Alexis doesn’t “talk” down to you about all the things you are failing to do. She talks like a caring, funny, cheerleader of a friend who is giving you skills but also reassuring you that you are an awesome parent.
I owe her my sleep for helping me with my first child, and again I’m seeking her wisdom with my second.
Cannot recommend this book highly enough!

Second time parent and very suspect of the information…
- no recap at the end of chapters making it very difficult to put into practice what was set out in the chapter… nap ninja master but have no idea how to accomplish it.
-dangerous information. Keep swaddling after APA guidelines. If your 3 month old is showing zero signs of rolling so you do her FERBER technique while baby is swaddle you’re asking for trouble. Also warning parents not to create “bad habits” if baby is sick. Your responsibility to your 6 month old fighting a “bug” is to keep them safe, so if that means more frequent feeds at night to ensure appropriate hydration and caloric intake so be it. Alexis gets it.
It is clear that she deeply understands the struggles of being a parent and trying to navigate life with a newborn. Her advice is backed not only by experience in the trenches but by science. She has methods and recommendations for all types of situations and temperaments of babies. I can’t thank her enough for the gift of independent sleep that she has given both my children - and me! Read this book, follow her guidance and immediately throw all your other baby sleep guides in the recycling.
As an added bonus, her sense of humour is impeccable and speaks directly to the hearts of parents that have been pacing the room, patting their babies bum and shhhhhing them for 2 hours while they quietly enjoy nibbling a single cracker for dinner.

Very funny and informative, gives parents lots of options
I chose this as my free trial audible book and I am so pleased with my choice! I have listened to a lot of sleep-related audiobooks and some of them are so drab and boring, mostly because they are not narrated by the author themselves. This author actually took the time to narrate a 8 hour long book and it makes such a difference! The tone and the humor makes those 8 hours go by fast instead of dragging on and on. And I definitely skipped some chapters that did not apply to my situation, something you can’t always do with other audiobooks so thanks Audible! There is so much good information in this book, that I think the hardest part is knowing what to apply to your specific situation. I have listened to several chapters but I am just now applying some of the strategies. Hopefully it helps!

Useless annoying book
I just want two hours of my life back listening to this nonsense. There is zero information on this book that is actionable and which won’t come up on the first page of a generic google search “how to make my baby sleep better”. The author think she is funny, she is mostly not, so you have to sit thru pages of jokes and listen to her uninteresting experience.
There is a lot of touchy-feely drivel but absolutely nothing new or subtantive which couldn’t be conveyed through 5 bullet bullets.

Should have read more reviews. This is cry it out they say it’s not but they call it something else “fuss it out” then a chapter later flat out admit it’s cry it out and if you aren’t ready to not even try. They also say leaving the house while your baby is crying is a good way to not cave in and smooth your baby. Wtf is wrong with people, just pick up and love your innocent baby.
