the middle was disappointing

the beginning was good, the ending was good, the middle was insufferable. I only finished it because the first book was Mortal engines. Without giving too much away, I struggled through that cliche big misunderstanding Trope where all the characters have an unneeded conflict and then have to go and mope and do things that are completely out of their character. if you can get through that, it's almost worth it for the end.

Book 2 emphasizes that this series is a YA title

I didn't enjoy this as much as Book #1. This title made the series to me a definite YA title. It did, however, leave me in suspense enough to finish the series.

The story you must find out what's next continue s

I just loved the first book. it was such a unique and compelling story I listened to the first one so fast, this one is just about as great and a great second story in a book leaving you interested in how it ends, so we got the last book and I will start it right now as I just finished this one!

Good story in a great setting

This is a good follow up to the first book. The point of view switches up a lot more so you can see what motivates the main characters, and not just focus on Tom. Story is rather predictable, but it's the setting and the
Uniqueness of the world that make it a good read.
