You can tell it is the first book in a series as almost everything is being introduced without much expansion. What I find interesting is how much I want to know more especially about the mages. Characters in the book are awesome and real and I really hope they continue to be filled out in the next book. The narrator is good and speaks clearly and most importantly the voice does not take me out of the story. I really want to hear the next book which better be as good and that is why I will rate it high.
