Publisher's Summary

Cybernetics (loosely translated from the Greek): "a helmsman who steers his ship to port". Psycho-cybernetics is a term coined by Dr. Maxwell Maltz that means "steering your mind to a productive, useful goal so you can reach the greatest port in the world: peace of mind".

Since its first publication in 1960, Maltz's landmark best seller has inspired and enhanced the lives of more than 30 million readers. In this updated edition, with a new introduction and editorial commentary by Matt Furey, president of the Psycho-Cybernetics Foundation, the original text has been annotated and amplified to make Maltz's message even more relevant for the contemporary audience.

"Before the mind can work efficiently, we must develop our perception of the outcomes we expect to reach. Maxwell Maltz calls this Psycho-Cybernetics; when the mind has a defined target it can focus and direct and refocus and redirect until it reaches its intended goal." (Tony Robbins, from Unlimited Power)

Maltz was the first researcher and author to explain how the self-image (a term he popularized) has complete control over an individual's ability to achieve (or failure to achieve) any goal. And he developed techniques for improving and managing self-image - visualization, mental rehearsal, relaxation - that have informed and inspired countless motivational gurus, sports psychologists, and self-help practitioners for more than 50 years.

The teachings of psycho-cybernetics are timeless because they are based on solid science and provide a prescription for thinking and acting that lead to quantifiable results.

What the critics say

"Psycho-Cybernetics is a classic personal development book. Most of the current speakers in the area of personal development, including Zig Ziglar, Tony Robbins, Brian Tracy and others owe a debt to Maxwell Maltz for the foundation of their material. The psychological training of Olympic athletes is also based on the concepts in Psycho-Cybernetics. Thousands, possibly millions, of people have benefited by putting these ideas to work. Put Psycho-Cybernetics on your 'must-read' list." (Michael C. Gray, Profit Advisors)

"Published in 1960, Psycho-Cybernetics remains one the classics of self-help, self-improvement, and personal development." (Mind of Success)

"An invaluable aid to the layman, offering a sound, scientific method of practical self-improvement." (Mark Freeman, PhD, clinical psychologist)

A makeover for self image!

This books gives me hope and actionable ideas to transform my self image which has been weak from a very young age.

Listening made me feel more powerful, helped me become aware of what I was focusing on, and guided me in changing my mental patterns to ones of success and positivity. I finished and wanted to listen again immediately to dig deeper.

Simply Life changing

I have just started to apply some of the subjects Dr. Maltz speaks about and I can feel my mind firing in new ways, I have become more observant of my actions, when anxious, or nervous, I am looking forward to starting my new life of positive self imagery. HIGHLY recommended for absolutely anyone. I never write reviews and this is my first one, which is saying a lot about this program. PURCHASE, ITS WORTH IT!

"The Secret" explained without the "magic nonsense

A nice clear book explaining how focusing on the goals you choose are actually achieved by your inner success mechanism in a scientific and psychological way. I'd imagine this is where the book "The Secret" got all its ideas but she added a bunch of magic and fairy dust to it for no reason. It's a good book. A good mental reset that puts your mind and goals in the right place with some good daily exercises that keep you on the right path without much effort. I've read a LOT of self help books, this is basically the bible of them all. This is where all those ideas come from. If you're new to self help books, buy this book. It's all you need.

What an awesome book!

This is a must read, and since it's so actual despite having been written more than 50 years ago, it's has to be a classic.
I'm ready to listen to it all over and I just finish.
There is great insight on how our perspective and opinions on ourselves and others makes or breaks us.
I learned a great deal on forgiveness. I think I finally understood what this means.
For so long, I was searching on the meaning of forgiveness and how it is done without the moralistic ideas we always here.
This book greatly contributes to my peace and serenity.
I'm very grateful !

It's a okay book

Not really interesting, basically taking about how important your self image is, and how you can use your self image to improve your self

Don't get the hype.

Really heavy handed religious overtones to this. Mindset does matter but a whole chapter on "just imagine you'll be better and you will!" is ludicrous. It feels like something that gets handed out to you on the first day of a cult, very far away from the friendly guidance of someone who is speaking from experience. Pseudoscience nonsense that you're better off avoiding.

Good content deliberately obscured by religion

Too bad the original Maltz content has been obscured by the deliberate insertion of Christian beliefs and the exclusion of other religious beliefs. I cannot recommend this version of this book

A great perspective shift!

This is a good book to help you understand your own patterns and objective perspectives on how to navigate your mind with techniques.

It's still the greatest book on identity.

I rear this book some 25 years ago. The lessons learned have kept my mind aware of the mind itself being something that is constantly in a fight or flight state. The mind is a creature of habit and can be the most difficult obstacles in life to overcome.
Dr. Maltz wrote this gem so many years ago, and his perspective is true perspective as he had worked in the industry of identity. I found it back then, not biased. It is still with the update of Matt Furey relevant.
In today's world, it is needed more than ever with the gender dysphoria epidemic sweeping the world. Say what you will, but this book shines the light that 99% of these cases are false. It is a psychological issue and not physical.
I hope folks in the medical profession can share this book for their patients first and not just to explain the concept but to make it a study for them. Their choice is not an issue to be trifled with on the emotions they go through, but why and how they came to them feeling that way. It is a lifetime choice that is no turning back.
There are so many other lessons in this book that you really should, in this case, listen to it multiple times. It will give a greater understanding of oneself. At the end of the day, it is you, and you alone, you have to live with. Be the person you are meant to be in the original form. Don't let them try to fit a triangle in a square.
