Publisher's Summary

Can a computer program understand love better than the human heart?

Archer, the AI at the dating service Q*pid, realizes humans don't always make the best choices, so it begins making some unconventional choices for them.

Fox Kincade is the last of his group of friends to be single, so he's delighted when he discovers a new match in his Q*pid app - one that, according to the new AI wizardry, should be the love of his life. Instead of the woman he's expecting, he's paired with Drew Larsen, a shy, somewhat nerdy PhD student who has also grown discouraged with romance.

Drew and Fox have little in common - aside from the fact that they're both straight. Or so they thought. But as the guys get to know each other, they realize Archer might have the right idea. Their path isn't smooth, because both need to overcome every idea they have about themselves and what true love might look like. But with the help of Archer - and some friends who have stuck with Fox and Drew through the thick and thin of their relationship trials - they might find their way into each other's hearts.

Interesting premise that failed to deliver.

I had a great deal of difficulty getting through this one, putting it away and trying again several times before I finally finished it. I wasn't sure what the problem was until I realized that it was mostly the narrator that put me off.

The story was ok. Two men, two straight men, are matched with a dating app and decide to meet. Sparks fly. Drew is very much into Fox and it seems like Fox is reciprocating Drew's feelings when he takes Drew to a resort for the weekend. However, even though Fox was happy to share a bed, he loses his shit when Drew touches him and tries to talk about what's developing between them. It was a rather extreme about face. The story does improve once they finally do get together. The tentaiive fumbling as the two men explore each other is endearing. Mrs. Schwartzman (spelling unknown) becomes more and more Yoda like in speach as the story progresses. The story does have an HEA ending.

I found the narrator a poor choice (sorry). The narration was in a monotone voice only showing life when he did voices, such as they were. Fox sounded like a chain smoking Drew. Awful. Instead of being sexy, he came across as pervy.

Chad, Fox's best friend and a successful lawyer, had the voice of an extremely cliche surfer dude. Ridiculous.

Honestly, I should have passed or returned this one and stopped trying to get through it. (missed the deadline to return it). Will not buy more by this narrator or author.

Meh.

so the narration was okay for maybe two voices and the rest were straight-up painful to listen to. I kept holding out for it all to get better but that wasn't the case. It was the crazy old lady and over-supportive best friend that kept me going I think. I had some laughs for sure and a few aww moments but the book didn't progress very much. I would recommend more character growth and a new narrator for sure!!!
