À propos de cet audio

In the deep forests of Kyonin, elves live secretively among their own kind, far from the prying eyes of other races. Few of impure blood are allowed beyond the nation's borders, and thus it's a great honor for the half-elven Count Varian Jeggare and his hellspawn bodyguard, Radovan, to be allowed inside.

Yet all is not well in the elven kingdom: Demons stir in its depths, and an intricate web of politics seems destined to catch the two travelers in its snares. In the course of tracking down a missing druid, Varian and a team of eccentric elven adventurers will be forced to delve into dark secrets lost for generations - including the mystery of Varian's own past!

Good book but it should be better indicated that it is midway part of an ongoing series. Not sure why they don’t have something like book 4 of the pathfinder series. Really annoying for someone who likes to listen to series from the beginning. I probably won’t get another one of these unless I can easily find the order they are supposed to go in.

There are lots of references in this book to events that it happened before. I don't think you need to read the previous books in order to understand this book or at least I didn't. But it did make the book feel a bit formulaic. And without the background of the character development the characters felt a bit flat. It's the kind of thing that if you're reading you'd read on the beach and you wouldn't be too upset if you forgot it before you got back on the plane.I don't think I'll pick up any more of these but I might. There are some aspects of the two main characters That are intriguing. If one of the books ends up in the right setting and ends up on a daily deal I might pick it up

This Dave Gross tale - set in the reality of the 'Pathfinders' RPG - has strong and weak points:
On the positive side, the Golarion setting is rich and varied, the beings & monsters are well-conceived, and Gross writes with a tongue planted firmly in cheek - clearly understanding the "fun"-provision storytelling mandate.
Unfortunately, he includes some straight-up puerile halitosis & fart humor and quite a lot of strikingly ill-fitting sexual content. I was left actually annoyed at times.

As to presentation: Paul Boehmer reads the book nearly flawlessly.. providing undeniably professional diction, timbre, cadence, and voice-acting - but also understanding the author's intentions with near-psychic accuracy. It's disappointing that Audible Studios sound engineers struggle to match re-recorded segments and mix them into the master.. sound quality is occasionally lacking in this recording.

Altogether, I enjoyed 'Queen of Thorns'.. but the 6/10-star audiobook is one of the weaker offerings from Mr. Gross.
