Publisher's Summary

The first biography of the most popular anchor in cable news.

Rachel Maddow has beaten the odds in a way that's novel in today's America: She uses her brain.

In a world of banal and opinionated soundbites, she regularly crushes Sean Hannity's ratings thanks to her deeply researched reports. And in our highly polarized world, Maddow amiably engages the staunchest conservatives, while never hesitating to expose their light-on-facts defenses.

As a result, she's become the top anchor for MSNBC and a beloved representative for all that progressive America holds dear. The news that Maddow was the first publicly-out lesbian to anchor a prime-time TV news show seemed almost anticlimactic to her millions of viewers, who will be surprised and intrigued by little-known details of her life, as written by New York Times best-selling biographer Lisa Rogak.

I listen to Rachel Maddow everyday

I also would fall into a rabbit hole if I watched TV so I listen via the podcast.

I wonder if the author actually interviewed Maddow for the book. I believe she talked to her Mom, her partner and many staff but I am doubtful she spoke to RM herself.

still enjoyed though.

Fascinating!

Love, love, love Ms. Rachel Maddow. Love her storytelling, her snark, her patriotism and the way she gives me hope for the future.

Absolute Pablum.

Rachel Maddow is one of the most refreshing and intriguing commentator on TV, so I really looked forward to reading her biography. If only this book had a third of the story telling richness of one of Maddow’s shows, I might have actually enjoyed it. Instead, I feel really let down.

More insight into the person

Would have loved having more but I felt this gave me greater insight into how she sees the world. Great to hear how much she appreciates and wants to know others point of view. This is regardless of political party or ideology. Love that she is so true to herself.

Pretty superficial

Covers Rachel’s life but is rather superficial. Could have used more depth to really flesh out the story.

should have read description closer

I would have enjoyed this more if I'd read the description better. I had it in mind that Rachel Maddow was also the narrator.
the narrator did a fine job, there are a LOT of "she said", which became annoying after the second hour, but not so much as to stop listening.
this is one book I'd probably have been better off reading the old fashioned way.
