Publisher's Summary

Eating is a basic biological necessity and yet our relationship with food can be fraught with a host of complications. Thanks to the pressures of diet culture and a bombardment of contradictory messages about health and body image, many of us have lost the ability to listen to our own bodies when it comes to what, when, and how much to eat. And many of us pass this poor relationship with food on to our children without even realizing it.

How can we combat the negative habits and feelings that surround our food choices? And how can we give our kids a healthier alternative to the anxiety of restrictive diets and encourage them to listen to what their bodies need? The answer may lie with “intuitive eating”, a mind-body approach to eating that has been shown to improve diet quality, self-esteem, mental health, fitness motivation, and more. In the 10 lectures of Raising Intuitive Eaters, registered dietician and parent Sarah Remmer will introduce you to the principles of intuitive eating and demonstrate how to give children the best possible foundation for a healthy relationship with food and their own bodies—even if that means not finishing their broccoli.

As Sarah deconstructs the hazards of diet culture and offers a healthier alternative—the self-care-based principles of intuitive eating—she also highlights the crucial role parents and caretakers play in forming healthy eating habits and creating a positive, stress-free approach to food. While Sarah’s focus is introducing a healthy mindset and healthy behaviors to children, Raising Intuitive Eaters offers food for thought for anyone who would like to develop a healthier and happier relationship with their body.

Relatable, easy to understand and engaging to listen to

I would recommend this book to all parents regardless of their child’s age. This audio course provides real life examples and scenarios that help parents and care givers understand how to nurture a healthy relationship with food in both themselves and their kids! Very engaging to listen to! There are important messages in here for honestly anyone that wants to take the first step in learning how to eat based on intuition and trust instead of external restrictive food rules.
