Arthur C. Clarke was born in Minehead, in 1917. During the Second World War he served as an RAF radar instructor, rising to the rank of Flight-Lieutenant. After the war he won a BSc in physics and mathematics with first-class honours from King's College, London. One of the most respected of all science-fiction writers, he also won Kalinga Prize, The Aviation Space-Writers' Prize, and The Westinghouse Science Writing Prize. He shared an OSCAR nomination with Stanley Kubrick for the screenplay of 2001: A Space Odyssey, which was based on his story, The Sentinel. He lived in Sri Lanka from 1956 until his death in 2008.

More adventures in Rama
While this is a good story and I do recommend it as part of the series, it doesn’t add too much to the first book. Lots of filler and character development but little in the way of advancing the main story line.

Narration is far better than Rama 1.
The story however is more intrigue than revelation of Rama's secrets. Just a few more mysteries.

Psyche and exploration
it was a bit of a slow start for me, but midway it really pick up. The performer is very good with the intonation and the flow. I'm curious to hear what's next.

I was hoping it would get better, but it didn't
If you expect a story of exploration and answers to the first book you will sadly be dissapointed. Don't bother reading. nothing interesting happens until you are about 7 hours into the book and then it's just for a brief moment. Women characters are written poorly and they are so dull and boring that you really just want something bad to happen to them. The women explorers are made out to be dumb silly women with their drama. This book seems to be a completely different take on the first book that I was really disappointed and glad when it was finished.

Definitely NOT Clarke
I didn't realize until after I started listening that this story is NOT written by Arthur C. Clarke and it really shows! Too much personal experience not enough RAMA... the author used Rama as a background instead of the story.. trying to finish as I do like the narrator but not sure I will be able to continue stomaching the personality dramas going on here....

Not a true sequel
I didn't realize when I bought this book, but it was actually co-authored with Arthur C Clark based on his classic Rendezvous with Rama. Unfortunately it shows. The writing is just not the same, it focuses much more on some fairly silly interpersonal issues rather than continuing with the tale of exploration and discovery where Rendezvous leaves off. I was disappointed, and I'm lot sure if I'll continue onto with the Rama series.
The narration, however, is very good.
