Publisher's Summary

A mother-daughter relationship faces a harrowing test in Eric Micha Holmes’s masterfully crafted thriller Rapture Season. When Mia mysteriously disappears from her college campus, her mother Joyce fears the worst — and a warning from Mia’s ex-boyfriend reveals she may have left the country to join a cult. Joyce impulsively launches a cross-continental trip to rescue her, gradually learning more about the seductive cult leader via audio tapes her daughter left behind. Rapture Season is a truly engrossing and hypnotic experience, offering a bracing examination of race, identity, radical ideology, and the resilience of familial bonds.

Enraptured

I was captured by the vivid story line, the compelling characters, the honest depiction of parenting, and how it was all expertly woven together with a dramatic score and sound design. Also I love Lili Taylor’s voice.

Brilliant, realistic play! Lili Taylor rocks!

A short story encompassing so many themes, it's VERY fitting for the times we are living in. I'd say you won't go wrong spending the short time it takes to read it, because you'll either love it or hate it! I feel like I've been on a long, gruelling journey, which I truly have. I hope 🙏 our mother-daughter journey ends as well as this one does. The very young and sheltered persons won't get it. My only complaint is the professor's accent was way off from being Argentinian!

Thrilling, complex and sweet mother-daughter tale

This, was somehow exactly what I needed to hear today. The story reveals great mother and daughter characters. They are imperfect, funny and relatable. I intended to listen to this book over a few lunch hours, but ended up listening to it in one sitting. I would recommend Rapsure Season to anyone who likes a good story.

Odd.......

Odd disjointed story. Stuck with it but did not enjoy it at all. Narrators were ok. Even tho it's free I wouldn't bother.
