I was hoping this book was going to be about the secrets of being a mentalist, but instead it was a collection of good, but very dated, strategies on sales, habits, interpersonal relationships, mindset, memory, etc.

Honestly, the information in this book was all fine and people should know it but there are far better sources on each topic.

Learning tricks on how to recite the alphabet backwards or remember somebody's name right after you met them are potentially good skills or tricks, but have nothing to do with being a mentalist.

Yes, perhaps if you extended some of the topics in the book to some extreme conclusion, could we potentially get there? Maybe, I have no idea because it wasnt discussed....anywhere.

Super disappointing because after seeing some of his tricks on video, I was hoping to get a glance into the world, but instead I learned that I should work hard towards my goals, never give up and follow up on opportunities that present themselves. Thanks, I hadnt thought of that. Oh and thanks for all the humble brags about your marathoning you were able to sprinkle throughout the book - again, nothing to do with mentalism.

Misleading

Book was not what I expected. If you think it’s going to cover stuff he did on the Rogan show, it isn’t. More of a general self improvement guide.

I thought it would provide accessible insights into mentalism but it did not.

Oz tells a story and teaches in a way that is intriguing and captivating. A book I could not put down. A book guaranteed to improve your life in many ways.

Captivating

He doesn’t share anything about “reading your mind”. He just goes on about how to act around others and yes he did practice magic before so he’s a fraud when he says he doesn’t. You will learn practically nothing

Deceptive

If you ask Chat GTP how to stay motivated while achieving your goals, it would write this book. I was hoping for some unique insights and there was nothing in here that was new or innovative or insighful. This book is full of standard concepts that have been around for ages. Just read the chapter titles and see for yourself - "Believe it to Achieve it", "Make Your Fear of Rejection Magically Disappear", "Focus on Others". "Forget Tomorrow, Start Today" etc. Very cliche! I am shocked there is no chapter called "Stop Making a Mountain Out of a Mole Hill" or "Make Lemonade Out of Lemons". lol The second problem with this book is that while the author claims these are skills anyone can learn, he does not tell us how to learn/practice them. Very disappointing.
