Story
There are a few things you should know about my brother’s roommate. Wolfie Cox is complicated, and incredibly sexy. Unfortunately, he has an impressive stick lodged so far up his ass, he’s about as emotionally available as a chinchilla. Actually, that might be an insult to the chinchilla community. So, naturally, I want to ride him like a bicycle.

Lexington Dane was my brother’s best friend growing up. We did everything together. He taught me how to throw a punch, how to change a tire...and he taught me how to kiss. I fell hard and fast, and gave him all my firsts. I promised I’d wait for him.... But I’m done waiting, because he went off to college and never came back. He took his fancy business degree and moved to New York City, where he promptly became a real estate mogul - turning every penthouse and apartment project he touched into gold.

Story
My love story all started with a letter. Only it wasn’t from the man I’d eventually fall in love with. It was from his daughter. A sweet little girl named Birdie Maxwell who’d written to the magazine that I worked for. You see, once a year my employer fulfilled a few wishes for readers. Only that column didn’t start up again for months. So I fulfilled some of her wishes myself. It was harmless…so I thought. Until one day I took things too far. While anonymously granting yet another of Birdie’s wishes, I got a look at her father.

The contract with Major League Soccer was supposed to help repair my damaged reputation. Then I discovered that I’d made a deal with the devil: The player I’m supposed to recruit is none other than the bad-boy star Premier League footballer Rush McKenzie. British. Tattooed. Sexy. A man currently at the center of a huge scandal. The goal? To convince him to stay in the States. But what’s wrong with a little fun in the meantime? No strings. No sweet nothings. Just a way to pass the time while we’re both struggling to prove our true selves to the world.

Never borrow pants from your brother. Especially if he’s a size smaller than you are, because all that pressure in the junk will short-circuit your brain. And you’ll lie to a woman in a club about your real name. Leave her unsatisfied after making out in a bathroom. Then find out that she’s the one thing standing in the way of your dreams. And she very much doesn’t like being lied to. Now I have to convince Lila Valentine - the woman I can’t stop thinking about, my biggest regret, and my new boss - that I’m what’s best for the baseball team she’s inherited.

Call it superstition, but when a guy bats as hot as Brooks Elliott, you don’t mess with what’s working. And what’s working is him keeping his pants zipped and doing all of his scoring on the field. So when I hear he’s planning to ditch his V-card now that he’s been traded to baseball’s lovable losers - a.k.a. my home team and my reason for living every March through October - I do what any rational, dedicated, obsessed fan would do. I make a plan to stop him. But the thing about stopping him is that it requires spending time with him. Lots. And lots. And lots of time.

The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time. Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.

Let me list the reasons why dating the sexy, charming pro hockey star is a bad idea: He’s one of my closest friends. All our friends are friends. The wounds I’ve got from past relationships go deep. And so do his. We’re both devoutly single - it’s just safer for the heart that way. But there’s no reason not to bid on the gorgeous, clever athlete at the charity auction this weekend. If I win, it’ll be a "friendsdate".

I’m not boyfriend material. If a trail of broken hearts and a piss-poor record of failed relationships have taught me anything, it’s this. My buddies are happy to give me shit about my latest breakup from here to next Sunday. Thanks, but I’d rather have a root canal. And a vasectomy. At the same time. Relief comes in an unlikely package - the gorgeous and feisty Maren. She just so happens to be my best friend’s sister, so that’s not awkward at all.

Too bad I didn't know sexy, clever, irresistible London is related to the guy who signs my paychecks. Publisher's Summary
If people have polar opposites, Luca Rossi is mine.
His butt is in the baseball hall of fame. Mine's comfortably seated in the hall of lame.
When he's not snagging fly balls out in center field, he's modeling in shampoo commercials. I once jammed my own finger while stirring cookie dough, and sometimes I forget shampoo is a thing.
He's a total cynic when it comes to love.
I make a living writing love stories.
But after my latest broken engagement (no, I don't want to talk about how many times that's happened), it's clear he's exactly the man I need.
If anyone can teach me to be the opposite of me, it's him.
The first thing I want him to teach me?
How to not fall in love.
And as luck would have it, he's in desperate need of a fake girlfriend to get a meddling grandmother off his back.
We couldn't be more perfect together, because the last thing Luca Rossi will ever be is the next man to leave me at the altar.
Or will he?
Real Fake Love is a line drive straight to the heart featuring a grumpy athlete, a jilted bride, a fake relationship, and the world's laziest cat. It stands alone and comes complete with sibling rivalry, the world's most awkward shower scene, and a sweetly satisfying happily ever after.

Jason Clarke and Virginia Rose nailed it!
There are not enough stars in the universe for me when it comes to this book . I've read all of Pippa Grant's books and for me, this one will be my favorite. I am so in love with these two characters. Henrietta Leonora Bacon, is a writer with the worlds most affordable and laziest cat, who has been jilted at the alter five times and she's had enough. No more falling in love. No more marriages. She turns to Luca Rossi, a professed no commitment man who doesn't believe in love or marriage, to help her learn to stay unattached and not to fall in love with the next guy who comes along. When Luca's, Nonna decides to put the curse on him, he decides that pretending that Henri is his girlfriend is the best answer. So they work up a deal. He'll help her not to fall in love and she'll be his pretend girlfriend until the end of the season. This is a great story written all the feels, and we finally get an answer to the mascot situation. Jason Clarke's, rich velvety voice, had me laughing until I was crying. He really did justice to Luca's personality. I could really feel how he got into character, every eyebrow lift and laugh made me picture Luca in my mind. Virginia Rose, really has a gift. I loved how she was really able to bring out the character that Pippa wanted us all to know. She made Hanri's character come to life for me. I look forward to more from all three of them in the future.

Great Read
Another laugh out loud hilarious yet sweet, romantic steamy romcom by Pippa Grant. No one, and I mean NO ONE, writes hilarious shenanigans as masterfully as Pippa does. You can go from snort laughing to ugly emotional crying in a span of one page and it’s OH SO GOOD!!! In Real Fake Love we meet Henrietta “Henri” Bacon, romance novelist, and Luca Rossi, Fireballs baseball player, on Henri’s wedding day where the wedding did not happen. Left at the altar, again, Henri turns to Luca to teach her how to NOT fall in love. Her request comes at a real opportune time for Luca as he is trying to escape “The Eye” of his Nonna. Nonna aka Grandma aka TikTok Nonna has decided it was time for Luca to get married and “The Eye” is Nonna’s sure way of making love matches and weddings happen in her family. “Gone is TikTok Nonna with a sparkle in her eye and a groove in her step, and in her place is the formidable head of an Italian crime organization.” So, while Luca “teaches” Henri how to not fall in love, she poses ad his girlfriend to protect him from Nonna’s Eye; and as they pretend together, some real feelings are beginning to surface. We get to catch up with our beloved Pippaverse characters, follow the Fireballs during their redemption season of not staying the worst team in the league and check in with the four mascot candidates. The narration by Virginia Rose and Jason Clark is absolute perfection. They bring the story alive in the best possible way! I absolutely adored this book and couldn’t recommend it more to everyone looking to escape into the world of romantic comedy.

High praise!!!
Pippa has done it again. I loved the female lead, Henri! You can understand how anyone would fall in love with her, leading to her several failed engagements. Luca does not believe in love, but does believe in his Nonna’s “eye” which once it’s used on someone it leads to a marriage. Henri doesn’t want to fall in love, while Luca doesn’t believe in love, so they are put into a situation where they help each other out. Henri helps Luca by pretending to be his girlfriend so Nonna won’t use the “eye” and Luca will help Henri not to fall in love. But Henri is so lovable that it’s really difficult for her. And even though Luca is annoyed by her, her corky personality it getting to him. And if all that doesn’t convince you to read the book, try this - there is a cat named Dogzilla that dresses up!

New author for me so I did not know the writing style.... this story was like a train wreck! You’re not sure where the hell its going but you can’t stop listening. Crazy, funny and weird! If that’s you’re style you’ll love this book! Not sure if I was reading if I would have gotten it, this was most definitely better in an audio book!

Cute
Real Fake Love By: Pippa Grant Narrated by: Virginia Rose, Jason Clarke Length: 9 hrs and 4 mins I listened to this book at 1.40 x Cute book. Funny. Instead of run away bride, it's more like run away from the bride. He goes to his "best" friends wedding that never ends up happening and is stuck consolidating the bride. She only loves Love and he hates Love. So they try to help each other out. The vocal artists in this book were unbeatable.

Jason Clarke is the only bright spot
This book had 5 stars and Jason Clarke narrating. I figured it would be a great book. It was not. The main character was written to be odd but endearing. However, the characters personalities fell flat. The storyline was all over the place and boring.
