Publisher's Summary

Perhaps you can recall a time when you felt more alive than at any other moment — when you had a sudden recognition of beauty, a feeling of deep contentment, and a sense of connection with life greater than you had ever thought possible. And then, this fleeting moment was gone.

What if you could recapture that remarkable opening, and make it a consistent way of living in the world? Throughout Europe and North America, a man named Eckhart Tolle has emerged as a teacher with the unique ability to draw us into the awakened state he calls "presence." With Realizing the Power of Now: An In-Depth Retreat with Eckhart Tolle, you have an unparalleled opportunity to immerse yourself in the timeless dimension — a place within us that always is and ever will be beyond the turmoil of life, a world of calm beyond words, of joy that has no opposite.

A walk in nature. A personal crisis. A moment of laughter. These can all serve as portals that take us to the depth and wonder of the Now. But how do we access these portals so that we dwell in presence more and more often? With Tolle's guidance, you will discover many simple ways to leave behind the chaos and suffering of the mind-made world, and enter this state of serenity and grace. Tolle will show you how to go beyond the endless stream of thoughts, and simply allow whatever is happening to occur...use sense perceptions and your "inner body" to find a peace that exists independent of conditions...see past "the little me and my story" and find your home in the "living Now."

Amazing and powerful

At the beginning, i thought there was something wrong with the audiofile :) however, Eckhart has masterfully speaks so softly and slowly. He talks about space consciousness and illustrates it so well. Everytime that I just listen to his voice I become calm, centred, and relax. When I got this book I was going through a lot of tough times and this book helped me a lot to relax and also realize how powerful we are and it all can go away once you are fully aware of your existence.

Excellent Tolle

OK, this was my first exposure to Tolle's voice...and it does take a bit of adjustment...his affect is a bit strange and his pacing is very measured (read slow)...but I hung in there and wow! was it worth it. Simple words that can change your life...if you like. This is not a book but 7 hrs+ of Tolle at Hollyhock retreat center...for the price it's the best thing I've purchased thus far on Audible!

A must for Tolle readers...

Ahhhh to be a fly on the wall during an Eckhart lecture. This seven hour presentation takes highlights from a week long retreat. Unlike an audiobook, this unscripted slice of life and lessons to learn captures Tolle at his best -- unrehersed and in front of a live audience. His subtle humor is not lost among the participants and we can picture the serene smile on his face as he takes us deeper into the present moment. Enjoy.

Uplifting power

If you are not in a state of wanting to be free from incessent and compulsive thought and be in the NOW instead of the future, which is not here only in your mind or in the past, which is only an illusion then this book is not for you. If you truly want to be free from constant problematic and incessant thinking take a listen to this audiobook. Just as in life, you cannot listen to it once and expect to change, you must listen to it again, and again. But, it will not be a chore to listen to, you will want to listen to it. He laughs a little in it, but isn't what you want to do? Laugh, think of it. Being able to transform your thinking into positive energy instead of dread or durdgery every day. You must listen to this book. I never thought that I could do what he says until I started practicing his methods. My thinking is different, and the way I look at situations and people around me are so much more positive. I recommend this highly to anyone who wants to free their mind of constant mind chatter, which is usually negative. I listen again, and again to this and all of his books. He truly is a great person.

Keeps the metaphysical ball rolling

Good follow up to The Power of Now.....The first book changed my life and this one keeps me loving life. If you're going to nit pick about Tolle's voice modulation or laugh, etc. don't bother listening...chances are, you aren't ready.

Wow!

Great listen. For the past month my favourite thing to do has been to go for two hour runs in the rainforest with this lecture on my ipod. Transforms you to a new level of presence and depth that I haven't experienced any other way. It has impacted my work, relationships, every aspect of my life. Amazing.

A great live recording of a true teacher

If you have read THE POWER OF NOW, or if you are simply someone interested in waking up, this recording of Tolle leading a retreat is perfect for you. Tolle attempts to communicate the truth that cannot be communicated, and he does an astounding job.

Excellent for those who enjoyed

I enjoy the teachings of Eckhart Tolle. In this book he give further understanding in living in the Now. He uses humor and everyday examples. A book for the "common man". I especially like the presentation which is that he is talking to the listener rather than reading the words of a book. One of my favorites!

Wish I was There

Yes, he does have a strange laugh and there are a lot of pauses. But If you can get past the superficial small stuff, the big stuff is sooo worth the time listening to. He is a superb teacher and there are a lot of solid nuggets of gold to get out of his lessons. If you have the patience, the rewards are bountiful.

Great for insomniacs

I don't know whether or not the information in this book is good because I could never stay awake to listen to it. The narrator talks....so....incredibly....and....disturbingly....slow! And then he has the most annoying laugh to boot. I stopped listening to this book in the car after the first ten minutes because it made me so sleepy that I almost got into an accident. It took me about three sessions after that to listen to the rest of the first hour after which I just gave up. Not worth the listen. If you are intrigued by the concept of this book, just buy the book. The audio version is worthless.

Cannot put a price on this wisdom

Where does Realizing the Power of Now rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

#1

What was one of the most memorable moments of Realizing the Power of Now?

Reminding us that we are not our thought. Thoughts are a manifestation of the ego.

What does Eckhart Tolle bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Hearing his calm nature makes the information easy to absorb.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book changed my every day thought patterns. now I care more about staying aware and focused during my actions than the fruits of my labor.

Any additional comments?

Eckart's teachings are not religious. If you are a Christian, Catholic, Hindu, etc... He takes wisdom from all of the great spiritual teacher and shows us the similarities . When you step back and look at it from this angle, you can see that all religions are pointing us to the same thing. Become one with the source of consciousness. It made me realize that I am the one who BREATHES... Not the one who THINKS
