Publisher's Summary
The start of a major career! A gripping, highly commercial espionage thriller written with the delicious insider detail and up-to-the-minute insight only known to a veteran CIA spook.
In today's Russia, dominated by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, state intelligence officer Dominika Egorova struggles to survive in the cast-iron bureaucracy of post-Soviet intelligence. Drafted against her will to become a "Sparrow" - a trained seductress in the service, Dominika is assigned to operate against Nathaniel Nash, a first-tour CIA officer who handles the CIA's most sensitive penetration of Russian intelligence. The two young intelligence officers, trained in their respective spy schools, collide in a charged atmosphere of tradecraft, deception, and inevitably, a forbidden spiral of carnal attraction that threatens their careers and the security of America's valuable mole in Moscow.
Seeking revenge against her soulless masters, Dominika begins a fatal double life, recruited by the CIA to ferret out a high-level traitor in Washington - hunt down a Russian illegal buried deep in the U.S. military and, against all odds, to return to Moscow as the new-generation penetration of Putin's intelligence service. Dominika and Nathaniel's impossible love affair and twisted spy game come to a deadly conclusion in the shocking climax of this electrifying, up-to-the minute spy thriller.

Great Spy Novel
With the movie coming out I wanted to experience this story before hollywood got its hands on it and I was not disapointed. This author has great knowledge and insight into the world of clandestine CIA operations and the narrator does a good job portraying the different characters while he is not George Guidell I couldn't picture ol' George reading me some of the more "adult" scenes in this book, I think Jeremy Bobb does a great job. This book isn't as action packed as some of the Mitch Rapp or Scott Harvath novels but it certainly never drags on or gets boring. Lots of twists and turns and suspensefull moments right down to the very end. I'm looking forward to the movie and getting started on book 2 of this series. A great listen for anyone interested in the espionage/spy genre.

GreatStory, Great Series....
Jason Matthews is on to something here, kind of apropos for the times we are in as well. Been waiting for a new SpyMaster to come along, Matthews could be it, highly recommend for fans of the Genre especially, but a solid read for all I believe.

Spies make for a great read
I enjoyed this book quite a lot. A bit long in parts but really enjoyed the character development. Also the first time I encountered recipes at the end of every chapter. The narrator was perfect for this novel and certainly did more for the Russian pronunciation than I could have managed.

Really enjoyed this sleuthing
The movie reviews are so so with critics saying it drags but I say this audiobook is terrific. Graphic and gripping in many places and hugely informative...especially y SVR and CIA dialogue and descriptions. Highly recommend to anyone hooked on espionage and subtle action.

Pretty intriguing overall
Liked the story and the narrator. As I haven't read any spy novels before, this was intriguing. I didn't mind the recipes at the end of every chapter. Liked the characters and the overall story but felt that it was drawn out in some places and too quickly covered in others - in terms of the writing and details. Was really into it at the end and binged and didn't keep track of how much time was left in the story and felt a little jolted when it ended - as if "wait, that's it!". While it wrapped up the main story line, felt there was so much more between the characters (realized later it was a trilogy). Buying the second book to continue the characters stories. #Audible1
