Publisher's Summary
To keep the people she loves safe, Sara left everything she knew behind. She soon learns this new world is nothing like her old one, and she struggles to make a place for herself among the Mohiri. But it soon becomes apparent to Sara and to everyone one around her that she is not your typical warrior. As the weeks pass, Sara builds new relationships, copes with her new trainers, and tries to manage her ever-changing powers while keeping her unique heritage a secret. Looming in the background is the constant shadow of the Master, who will do anything to find her.
Sara finds herself on a journey of self-discovery that uncovers her true strengths and awakens a part of her she never knew existed. She experiences the delight of new friendships, the sweetness and pain of first love, and a loss so deep it could be the thing that finally breaks her. At the end of it all, she discovers that the one place she was supposed to be safe might not be the refuge she thought it was.

Any additional comments?
I’m on the edge of my seat listening to book two in this series. If the comments I’m reading about the third book being the best book in the series; than I know it will push me over the edge. This series is awesome! Just when you think things are about to calm down in the story; the author surprises you by turning up the heat!

Thrilling with great characters
This is a great second audiobook in the Relentless series. It has plenty of action, amazing characters and excellent narration. I loved the development of Nicholas and Sara's relationship. His intensity, power and protectiveness is well matched by her determination, caring nature and inner strength. These characters continue to grow in depth and complexity as the story progresses and you can not help but be invested in their lives. The secondary characters also capture your heart, from Sara's werewolf BFF's, to sassy, sword loving Jorden or the reclusive Desmond, they all have depth and you can't help but care for them. I also enjoyed the great variety of supernatural creatures/beings in this story; the author expertly integrated then into the storyline without overwhelming the reader. The narrator did a fantastic job of giving the characters individual voices and she the intensity of the story came through well. This book has excitement, battles, surprises and romance and I look forward to listening to the next audiobook in the series. I received the audiobook at no cost and under no obligation.

Loved it!
A page turner with well developed characters and great plot. Loved the twists and turns, and most importantly, a long awaited, slow simmering romance finally being acknowledged. The author gave me everything I needed from this book. Can't wait to begin the next one.

The Riveting Continuation of Sara's Story
Would you listen to Refuge again? Why?
Yes. In fact, I already have. This story is so gripping, sparking a myriad of emotions.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I love Jordan. She is tough, hilarious, and completely loyal. My second choice would be Desmond... because he is Desmond lol.
Have you listened to any of Caitlin Greer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes. She also narrated Relentless, by Karen Lynch. I think that, in this book, Ms. Greer slipped some when transitioning between male characters. Otherwise, I feel she did a good job. I didn't rate her lower for this book because there are so many more characters.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I had many extreme reactions to this book. I laughed out loud, felt warm and fuzzy, had my heart swell with love, and ugly-cried. This story had all of the feels.
Any additional comments?
I really enjoyed learning more about Sara's undine abilities, and the creatures associated to it.

Great series!
I love this series! I had read this book before listening to it and it and I'm a huge fan of Karen Lynch. I really enjoyed rereading it through audible. The narrator did a fantastic job. I think this series is great because it's different from others I have read. Fresh story line and I honestly feel like I can relate to Sara. Thank you Karen for this awesome series!

Sara is so stupid in this one
This second book in the Relentless series is definitely not the strongest--it's kind of a holdover until it really gets to the good stuff. Sara, our protagonist, is so mind-numbingly, frustratingly, stupid in this book. She makes stupid decision after stupid decision, and refuses to see the very obvious things right in front of her. It is not a pleasure to read, or to listen to.
The romance turns angsty (and I don't mean that in a good way), with nonsense conflicts that get resolved almost as quickly as they arise, or that drag on indefinitely for no good reason.
Also, I don't think I can sugar-coat this anymore: the narrator is bad. The accents are so terrible, and her voice for Nikolas is actually upsetting. She narrates several characters with this weird, over-annunciated, wannabe British accent, and she has an annoying habit of un-contracting contractions (do not instead of don't, will not instead of won't, etc.), which makes the dialogue sound stilted. She's not bad enough to ruin the book, but there were points at which I caught myself rolling my eyes at yet anther terrible accent or awkwardly pronounced word.
I don't want to discourage anyone from listening to this series, because the series itself is actually good overall. But this particular book is a bit frustrating. Lots of tropey YA drama, which I could do without. However, there is lots of action in this one, and Sara's coming of age, as she finds out more about what she is and what she can do, is compelling.
