I enjoyed the world building and the dynamic growth of the MC relationships. Will continue to listen to the rest of this series! I hope JD Evans keeps writing more wonderful series like these.

Refreshingly different and very entertaining. Finally an FMC that doesn't irritate me. I loved her level-headedness, her intelligence, and ability to play the game to get what she wants. Not every time sword-wielding, strong-headed, reckless, impractical, and "oh so special overnight" FMCs I keep seeing everywhere.
I'm looking forward to the rest of the series and seeing how they all intertwine.

This story feels super unique to me. The setting and characters and magic system are amazing and very intriguing. The romance is wonderful. I'll be starting the next one immediately.

I thought this was a good take on a concept of a magical society with the view of an external unknowable force keeping "balance". I also enjoyed the view that even the most innocuous elements of magic could be used to create or destroy. I'll probably listen to thw next installment.

The plot, the romance, the characters EVERYTHING was perfect. J.D Evans is a genius and I fell in love with these characters. The only thing I disliked was the way the voice actress voiced Naime. I don’t know why she decided to add an odd accent to her, it doesn’t even sound like an Arab accent. It was not necessary at all and definitely suspended my belief throughout. Besides that I absolutely adored this book and will be buying the physical copies as well.
