Publisher's Summary

The epic conclusion to the long-awaited trilogy featuring one of the most beloved characters in all of fantasy - Drizzt Do'Urden - a rollicking tale of life, death, intrigue, magic, danger, and the timeless bonds of family and friendship from New York Times best-selling author R. A. Salvatore.

Displaced in time and unexpectedly reunited with his son, Drizzt Do'Urden, Zaknafein has overcome the prejudices ingrained in him as a drow warrior to help his son battle the ambitious Spider Queen and stem the tide of darkness that has been unleashed upon the Forgotten Realms. Though Zaknafein has endured the most difficult battles, survival has come at a terrible cost, and the fight is far from over.

Facing demons and driders, Zaknafein carries the entire weight of Menzoberranzan surrounding Gauntlgym on his shoulders once more. But the chances of survival for him and his old friend and mercenary Jarlaxle look bleak. Trapped in a desperate and seemingly hopeless situation, the legendary warriors must reach deep inside themselves to face the impossible.

While the burdens Zaknafein bears are more than enough for one of Menzoberrazan’s greatest warriors, fate holds further challenges. When circumstances take an unexpected turn, Zaknafein discovers he must not only conquer the darkness, but learn to accept the uncontrollable: life itself.

The stakes have never been higher for R. A. Salvatore’s most beloved creations in this final volume of his latest best-selling trilogy begun with Timeless and Boundless. A story of brave heroes filled with dangerous thrills, Relentless also considers eternal questions about morality, purpose, sacrifice, and the definition of harmony. Exciting, imaginative, and thought-provoking, it takes fans on an action-packed ride that will challenge their assumptions and leave them breathless and satisfied.

The culmination of a trilogy cut short

The overall trilogy was excellent. The struggle, the stakes, the return of Zaknafein and his own struggle to adapt to his son current life. However this story feels cut short and rushed to the end without any true ending. You simply get to the epilogue and The End. There is no answer to what happen to the demons, the invasion, the corrupted drawves, etc...You get to the end twist and it's just done, like that. That being said Victor Bevine again deliver a strong performance in bringing this story to life.

He does it again!!!

Love all books written by Salvatore. Have been reading them for 25 years now (wow time flies). Great ending. like always, cant wait for the next one. Narrator was excellent as well. I would like to see an addition of a female co narrator though.

Amazing book and reader with one issue

Victor Bevine, you are an amazing voice actor and i have loved the journey through all the Drizzt and related series with you. BUT you are too quiet, is there any way that the recording volume could be bumped up a bit as i have a hard time hearing the somber contemplative sections of the book through all 50 some books. Please.

R.A. Salvatore, Another amazing book, I love the series, I cried for a character I never thought i would and the cliff hanger was rude. Please hurry with the next book.

Thank you and all involved.

Salvatore never runs out of stories to tell!

I’ve read all 35+ books in the Drizzt line, and this newest is heavily focused on character growth and development. It’s astonishing how one author can be so prolific without repeating himself!

Too many characters, too much happening.

While the overall story is grand, the telling of it was a bit difficult to get through. The jumping back and forth from the Drow Priestesses to Zaknafien, to the other characters, and so on just made it a bit of a pain to follow. I prefer the books that focus more on Drizzt's feats and adventures more than that of the side characters. But the ending was good and felt like a great resolution to a trilogy.
