Publisher's Summary

A top-secret international military organization, known only as ROOT works from the shadows to protect the delicate balance of world peace. With 80 hidden bases and thousands of gifted agents in their employ, ROOT is an unstoppable force. Agent Wraith is a human with a very special and unique gift.

As a reincarnated priestess, she can use her spiritual powers to track the souls of those that she has previously come in contact with. Wraith lives for her work and has become the youngest team leader in the Reconnaissance Department. Assigned to use her special powers to pursue a rogue colleague, codenamed Sleeper, she sets out alone to capture him.

Agent Fang is a modern-day werewolf that has worked for ROOT for over 50 years. Gifted with an incredibly long lifespan and an accelerated healing factor, he has the appearance of a 30-year-old man although he is over 500. Recently assigned to cover Wraith from the shadows, he realizes that she is eerily familiar to him...a little too familiar. Her appearance and scent is one that he’d never encountered before. But, her soul is reminiscent of a woman’s that he had once so desperately loved and lost, and it instantly awakens the beast within.

This work contains sexually explicit scenes between consenting adults, descriptive violence, and foul language.

ROAL series synopsis: Enter a world of supernatural fantasy set in a modern-day, fast-paced setting. ROOT, a secret organization that does not align itself with any of the world's many governments, is a militant group comprised of spies, soldiers, scientists, doctors, hackers, and assassins. Specializing in finding gifted beings to join their ranks, ROOT employs their assistance to aid in their global mission of protecting world peace. There are more than 80 secret bases spread throughout the world and thousands of sleeper agents posing as simple civilians within "normal" everyday societies.

Upon signage with ROOT, the real-world identities of each agent are erased from society, effectively making them ghosts of people who never were, true remnants of another life. And only the most elite of agents make up departmental specialty teams units - enter ROOT's infamous Reconnaissance Alpha Team.

The Remnants of Another Life series combines elements of Mission Impossible and X-Men with a heavy dose of smoldering romance tightly woven in between. Missions are fast-paced, dangerous, and often violent. Agent off time is often humorous and character reflective.

Take the journey with Agents Wraith and Fang as they try to navigate through their complicated relationship in a world where antagonists usually have the best intentions and the decisions to "harm to protect" usually come with an unsettling moral price. In the ROAL world, nothing is ever clearly black or white, and like reality, peace never seems to last for very long.

Unfortunately I Got In My Own Way

This is a review of the 1 hour and 44 minutes of the book that I read after deciding to not finish it.

* I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I wanted to like this book so much but unfortunately, that was not the case. I'm pretty sure it's more of a me-thing than an actual book problem. As interesting as the story was ramping up to be the writing style and how this book was written in the third person made it very hard for me to be immersed in the story. My brain just wouldn't let me enjoy the story as the narrator instead of being in a character's head. With this book, I've realized that books that are written in the third person and I just don't go well together.

Unfortunately, it ended up making the story drag on even though it had a reasonably steady pace after the initial introduction of each character. I would have also loved to have had more worldbuilding right off the bat. The hero is a mystical creature of some kind and the heroine has powers but there were always questions running in the background of my mind wondering if he was the only one, if there were others of his kind, if there were more creatures of other kinds running around, etc.

The Audio Book:

I loved that this was dual narrated! It usually makes for an even better read. My one issue with the narration was the recording itself. There were more than a handful of times in the almost 2 hours that I listened to that the audio would get fuzzy for a few minutes and then be corrected. At first, I thought my headphones were the problem but I quickly realized that I listen to music all day and have listened to other audio books with it in the last few days and that wasn't happening anywhere else.

Overall Conclusion:

This had everything to be an amazing story but I got in my own way. This one is on me and I recognize that fully.

Werewolf demon + Reincarnated priestess = Fun&HOT!

Remembered is about ROOT, a secret spy organization with supernatural agents that have to save humanity. The story is like the superhero stories my BF loves. Only this story is good. You can follow the story and the sex scenes aren't just thrown in. They are part of the plot. I will be reading more of Diana Leston's Remnants series soon.
The characters are all fun to listen to, The two main characters are great. Fang is a sexy buff werewolf demon assassin. Gregory Russell's deep rumbly voice is perfect.
We need more heroins like Wraith, a bad ass reincarnated priestess who leads one of the ROOT teams. I love when Brooke Hudson voices a tough strong woman like Wraith.
When Fang and Wraith fight against enemies together they are cold. When they fight and love each other they are hot.

I need my own Fang!

This story has so much going on. I really enjoyed the different style than my normal. Fang and Wraith knew each other many years ago and it was great to see them come back to find each other. If strong Hero and Heroines with a splash of action and steamy times, this is a book you may be interested in. The love story along with the action, twists and side characters will keep you glued to your kindle or earbuds.Brooke and Gregory do an amazing job with narration.

Yummy

Holy priestess of an ancient order and a wolf shifter that is 500 years old. A love that has lasted through reincarnation, and a chemistry that won't be denied. This was packed with action, characters you want to cheer on, and a plot that tied it all together. Loved it! You won't be disappointed in this paranormal romance.

Unique PNR

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. I enjoyed the dual narration. The characters were interesting and had depth. Lots of action and suspense gave the book a well rounded feel. There were a few slow parts but overall great book.

Pretty Good

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. The story its self was good, I just thought it could have been a little shorter. It dragged a little in places, but overall I gave it 4 stars. the female narrator was good, but sometimes I didn't feel like the right emotion was conveyed in relation to the story. The male narrator's voice was appealing, but he sounded mechanical in a lot of the story. That's why I gave the performance 3 stars. I will definitely listen to another one of Diana Leston's books.

Must Have!

I had no idea what I was getting into with this story. A few of the guys at work were talking about it, so I checked it out. The cover made it seem like the kind of romance books that women buy at the grocery store and that put me off, but I gave it a shot. This story is more like an action movie! There’s romance between the two characters, and it’s def hot, but there’s a much bigger picture. Wraith was a strong leader and didn’t need to be taken care of by a man. What’s hotter than that? So many levels of mystery and fighting made this so interesting to listen to. The narration was great, the man and woman seemed to act their parts and it really made this story for me. I felt like I was there. Men - get past the cover and check this one out!

Great Book. I always love these narrators together

This story was fun, exciting, sexy, and kept me interested the whole time. A group of supernatural secret agents have to use their powers together to try and save humanity. Great story!
I always love theses narrators together and this time was even more intense. I loved it so much when Gregory Russell and Brooke Hudson hooked up as the main characters. Their voices are so sexy together!

Fun Exciting story. Love the way it was narrated

This audiobook book was great! I love the way the audio was done. Brooke Hudson narrated all the female character's dialogue while Gregory Russell narrated all the male character's dialogue. It's so much better than when narrators do the voice of the other gender and it takes you out of the story. The story was great too. Agents Fang and Wraith, a wolf demon and a reincarnated priestess are the main characters who wind up in a military type group together. They begin a steamy romance that had been halted by hundreds of years and death. Aided by the colorful members of their squad they are ordered to go on a very dangerous high stakes mission and go up against an interesting enemy. I can't wait to listen to more of Diana Leston's Remnants Of Another Life series.

Not for me

I’m so sorry, but this Audio Book was not for me.
I missed some maturity and seriousness/ credibility.
And most importantly, I missed feeling connected to the main character and being engaged in the story.
The whole love, lust, sex thing didn’t make me feel anything. No romance, no arousal or excitement.. just disappointment I’m apparently not the target audience.
I’m 37 and I think this Audio Book is better suited for the younger Adults. (18 to 25/30 maybe?)
I don't think this is a bad book (just not for me).

I’m sorry to say the narration is also not for me.
The voices and performance of the 2 narrator’s was good, but with all the back and forth in some scene’s it felt like separate ‘cut and pasted together’ audio files, instead of a conversation or scene.
Especially in the sex scene’s the ‘vibe’ and flow didn’t really fit/ feel natural.

I got this Audio Book for free (thanks!). I'm voluntarily leaving this review.
