Publisher's Summary

If the Talbots manage to hold back the tide of evil, will Heaven and Hell crash upon them and wipe the slate clean?

Raising twins deep in a protected wood sounds like an ideal task, but when the kids are dangerously magical and just learning how to control their abilities, life can get dicey. Michael Talbot prepares for a difficult trial as his wife, Azile, the powerful Red Witch, is called away on urgent matters and he is left alone in charge of his challenging offspring. Fortunately, Uncle Mathieu, werewolf and Brew Master, arrives to help out.

It should have been a swell reunion for them, but conspiracy and war are upon them overnight, and they become embroiled in diabolical machinations that no spell of protection can hide them from. Lycan, craven flesh-rending beasts and sworn enemies of Man, are once again preparing to enslave the remnants of humanity, and dark, otherworldly sources are backing their claim to rule the land.

Entities created to extinguish existence have been loosed from the netherworld, and the multiverse is balanced on a knife's edge. Suddenly, no one is safe, and the Talbot children become targets of inestimable worth. Will Azile's power and Mike's supernatural attributes be sufficient to protect them?

not my favorite

I have a few problems with this one, seems like Mike is everyone's punching bag instead of being revered and honored for saving the world. seems like he's in an abusive relationship with Azil, because no matter how powerful your spouse is you do not truly fear them.
why was Talboton, Danarth and Azil, among others; not informed of the lycan situation? seems it was known of for a long while.
why was Mike blamed for something Lana and Matthew did? and Lana and Matthew were not even spoken to regarding their actions? I expected Mike to almost go feral on those two.
somehow I missed what happened to the hundreds of lycan and how the magic user was handled, and that situation with the user seems like nothing at all. I must have been distracted during that.
why was Mike at home "having fun" with the family; while there are thousands of lycans out there regathering for another attack?
not sure how i feel about Tim being back, didn't like him earlier in the series, seems like he forces a change in characters, and takes Mikes spot while Mike takes TBs spot. its unnatural!
Mikes normally a fun dependable badass, this one... he seemed like a whipped dog.
not my favorite, kinda felt like Mark dropped the ball on this one. the first of his books i regret listening to; for context, i've listened to The Bleed, Lycan Fallout, but the zombie fallout series a number of times, all time favourite series.
Sean did a FANTASTIC job, Mark, i don't know what to say; i normally LOVE your work! easily and by far my favourite author!
that said; i really don't know how i feel about this book; if it were any other, i'd give it a 2/5, but i'll give you the benefit of the doubt, and give it 3/5 for the sake of potential pay offs in later books, i hope this goes on for at least a few to several more books if thats the case! but if they continue like this one; i'll have to bow out. which truly sucks; cause i'd planned to listen to all of your books (sorry, couldnt get through shrouded world, the other author was kinda putting me to sleep; not even kidding lol.
I always recommend Marks work! but i won't be able to recommend this book; i hope the next books fix that!
