Excellent!

Great story and narration. I was captivated from beginning to end. I was listening to this while driving tractor on the farm. Could not stop and continued listening when farm chores was finished.

Great Series

What made the experience of listening to Return of the Asgard the most enjoyable?

A great first book from the Valkyrie series by Erik Schubach

What was one of the most memorable moments of Return of the Asgard?

The powerful ending.

Which scene was your favorite?

To many to choose one.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Made me laugh .... a lot

Any additional comments?

I am impressed by the wealth of detail Mr. Schubach incorporates into his Valkyrie stories. Mr. Schubach writes the way every day man/women thinks. It's not all perfect grammar or poetry - it’s just hard facts with a comic twist. The book has action - history - and life lessons all rolled up in a good story. I would say it is well worth the credit! I hope his other books in this series become available to Audible Books!!!!

Excellent Book!

Great twist on Norse mythology. I absolutely loved this book. Comedy, romance, action, and aliens! Whats not to like? In this book, the Norse Gods aren't Gods at all. They are an alien race and they're coming back to Earth for Ragnarok which is actually another race of aliens. Hollie Jackson does an amazing job with the narration.

Wow. Just wow.

Would you try another book from Erik Schubach and/or Hollie Jackson?

Never even if you held a gun to my head.

Would you ever listen to anything by Erik Schubach again?

I would rather have all my teeth pulled out by anyone, at anytime.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Hollie Jackson?

anyone

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment. I was so very full of hope. What else could a girl ask for? Valkeries? Lesbians? Asgard?! and yet this totally and completely sucked.

Any additional comments?

I have been listening to many different types of book for a long time. Sometimes you get a crap writer, but the reader is so entertaining, its still worth listening to. Sometimes the most monotone or worse, inappropriately peppy, reader can still make the right words sing and keep me in my car once I get where I have to go...
This was the worst of two worlds. Not only was the plot flimsy, pretentious, patronizing and just plain "what the hell?" but the dialogue made "He-man and She-ra" look like Jane Eyre. There was no humor. There was no warmth. There was no chemistry. The lesbians shacked up and were soulmates before they even kissed!! WTF? I couldn't even get through half the book before I had to delete the entire Audible app just in case there was some stink of this book left on my iPhone.

Feels rushed

Characters seem far too willing to accept world changing revelations to the point that i could not get into it. I think there is going to be some girl on girl romance which would be hot except it's far too forced and juvenile. Something is wrong with the writing. Maybe it was cut too much or that the idea balls (southpark look it up) didn't line up right either way the book comes off as superficial and rushed.

Flat characters, no story

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Someone who likes a lot of action and Valkyries (not a Norse mythology buff, though, it's treated poorly)

Has Return of the Asgard turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. I have read many great books with twists on mythology, like Iron Druid chronicles. Don't give up mythology addicts!

What aspect of Hollie Jackson’s performance would you have changed?

Performance is pretty good, kept me going further into the story than I would've otherwise.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The writing isn't terrible. It's all the supermodel Mary Sue (superheroes, to boot) characters that sank the book for me. No one has any real human characteristics, everyone is perfect and there is absolutely no depth to the main character.

Any additional comments?

The story begins very quickly, which is fine, but given the non-existent plot, lack of character depth (even for commercial fiction, it's unbelievably poor), and flat dialogue, I wish I would have spent my credit elsewhere.

I got bored.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No

Would you ever listen to anything by Erik Schubach again?

No

What about Hollie Jackson’s performance did you like?

Really entertaining. I would listen to her work in the future.

Do you think Return of the Asgard needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I don't thing I will listen to any more books in the series. I think that the story it interesting...I guess, but it doesn't hook me. Someone else may like it though.

Any additional comments?

The story was written well; good action series, strong characters, but I got bored.

FOUND WANTING

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Just lacking.... Its like listening to an abridged book... I wanted to liked it but not worth the credit.... At least I was able to listen to the whole book.

Would you ever listen to anything by Erik Schubach again?

No

What does Hollie Jackson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her voice is pleasant to listen to. It was the only reason I didn't stop the book half way through.

Do you think Return of the Asgard needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

It has sequels, but I will not be downloading them.

Brilliant Twist on an old Mythos

Schubach takes the classic Norse mythology and twists it. Instead of the gods of Valhalla we have an alien race. Instead of the Valkyrie and the Einherjar preparing for an event called Ragnarok, they are fighting other aliens called Ragnarok. In the story the ancient norse mythology was actually all started by Kara, the main character, when she got drunk and told the tales of her people to a group of vikings.

Though all the characters are a little larger than life, since they are super old and powerful aliens, they all still feel real. And Schubach adds plenty of humor into his books too that make the characters feel that much more real.

I absolutely loved this book and the series just gets better with each book. I highly recommend it.

Very entertaining.

Where does Return of the Asgard rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It is well written with a very good story line that keeps you interested and wondering what is next.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Return of the Asgard?

There wasn't any one thing, but the whole story itself.

What about Hollie Jackson’s performance did you like?

She did a 5 star performance. She played Kara so believable.

Who was the most memorable character of Return of the Asgard and why?

The main character Kara

Any additional comments?

Looking forward to the next book. Can't wait. Looking for more books like this.
