Publisher's Summary

The Genevians are at war with Nietzschea...and they’re losing.

In a last-ditch hope, the Genevian mech program was founded. Its goal to augment humans into cyborg fighting machines; mechanized warriors sent to hold the front lines against an enemy that was storming a hundred worlds.

Yet few wished to undergo the brutal process, and so criminals were used, their minds enslaved by control chips and obedience enforced through discipline.

The Genevians spent their mechs against the Nietzscheans with little care, eventually struggling to find enough bodies to convert into fighting machines. Quotas were set in the courts, prosecutors, and judges paid off to ensure that even the most benign offenses would see the perpetrator end up in a mech factory, rights and mind stripped as much as body.

Rika is one such victim.

Forged into a second generation scout mech, she is sent to the front lines where she serves with distinction, crushing countless enemies beneath her clawed feet.

But, despite giving everything she had, Genevia still loses the war, and Rika is abandoned.

Now she slings cargo on Dekar, little more than a human loading machine, struggling to keep ahead of the slow breakdown of her mechanized body.

Until someone makes her an offer she cannot refuse. An offer that will see her rejoin the fight - whether she wants to or not. Rika will have to summon a strength she never knew she had to bring about the victory that she once thought was lost.

Get Rika’s Marauders today and follow the ultimate rags-to-riches story, where one woman rises up and saves not only herself, but her people.

This omnibus volume contains all seven books in the Rika’s Marauders series, as well as two novellas: Rika Mechanized and Rika Crucible.

Mildly entertaining but lots of lots of squandered potential.

Started off great, really enjoyed the first few parts but then this dull monotony crept in. Every opportunity for tension and epic action was glossed over. The battles were short and not very detailed, the protagonist hardly struggled at any points cause she is just so OP. She half stumbles into destroying a whole fleet and a planetary system while making jokes. Coukd have been great if some of those battles were more fleshed out and the solutions were inventive not just instantly available. The whole series wraps up in less than 15 minutes, there is build up to a final fight against a meched out evil emperor that just ends in 15 seconds with no fight at all. Really dissappinting way to end the whole series. Overall a fun listen, but nothing to write home about.

Love it!

I stumbled upon this gem purely by accident. I was unfamiliar with the author, but quickly hooked by the world building. It was encouraging to find another strong female protagonist in a sci-if setting with relationships being built between multiple characters beyond a simple love interest. The main character does experience a significant amount of internal conflict regarding the nature of her own humanity, but also doesn’t descend into crippling depressive spirals like I’ve seen in other novels. I found myself empathizing with her as the audiobook progressed. I can practically hear the echo of metal limbs colliding with ship decking as the main character prepares to take on all comers.
One point I would make for any new readers like myself, is that this series does intersect with the author’s Orion and Intrepid series. I missed that when I downloaded this book and found myself a bit lost 20 hours in while I tried to figure out who these new characters were.
