This was painful and beautiful. So many funny moments despite all their heartbreaking traumatic history. Definitely a slow burn. At about 80% there is a surprise twist that didn't add to the story for me...kind of took me out of their romance and friendship building.

River -a grumpy hero that learns to love and trust again.

Carrie's internal monologue is so full of snark I loved it... I snort laughed a few times and found myself smiling throughout. Also her fake swears are hysterical... usually it would annoy me but it really works with her character.

Savannah Peachwood is always excellent but outdid herself with this performance.
*** I don't usually listen at a faster speed but I increased this to 1:15 and it made their banter and arguments more rapid fire and funnier for me!
Sebastion York only narrated about 15% of the book.
