Publisher's Summary

The Dawn Alliance holds Novograd in a steel fist, protected by a battle fleet and an armored space station. The factories of Novograd are the key to the war. Whoever controls the planet controls the Green Zone - and that means the station must be destroyed.

The station will be a tough nut to crack, but Tom Thrush has a plan. The key to cracking a nut is to bring a big enough hammer. There’s a crippled Dawn Alliance battleship limping home from the Battle of New Panama. His plan is simple: Board the battleship, take control, and use it as a Trojan horse in a desperate assault on the station.

All he has to do is find the battleship in the trackless wastes of hyperspace, fight his way onboard, take over, and set course for Novograd.

With a little luck, a lot of courage, and an iron will, the station will fall - and the real battle will begin.

The story is great but there needs to be a book 6

The story is great but there needs to be a book 6 or a lead to another series that continues is there too much missing at the end to be excellent.

Overall Boring

Was not impressed with the story at all...while it did have some interesting parts for scifi junkies like myself, the actual plot had very little going for it. No mystery or suspense type action, no big surprises, nothing. I would equate it to reading a very futuristic newspaper. Thankfully the entire series was basically free or I would have been upset that I had wasted money on it.

highly recommend

Strongly recommend this author and his works. The only negative I have at this time is audible doesn't have more of his books in audio format.

The 5 books worked nicely telling an evolving story with good characters. Jake we need more of your books on audible.

The Green Zone War series was excellent

The first thing that stood out to me was that this is the first time I've listened to any Sci-Fi with an Indigeound protagonist and that alone got me hooked. I was expecting the same old stereotypes, instead, I found that storyline really interesting and helped me connect with Tom. This plot point gets lost towards the end of the series, but it was really well done. I don't want to make it seem like this was all about who he was racially but it was a key point in the story, and it worked well - I wanted more.
The second thing that stood out to me was how few things worked out in the last second. I am used to something miraculous happening and our hero saving the day - there's a bit of that here in a general sense, but Tom and his crew are all fallible, and often don't save the moment, until they do. I liked that crappy things happened to these people, and some break, others take some time to find their footing again - this seemed real to me.
The battles were well told, I bought into them - I am not sure about windows on spaceships but I still liked all the action. The bad guys seemed a little lazily written, like dust off any old 'Muslims' are bad, people from the East are really brutal stereotypes, so this was weak for me - but in the end, I kind of didn't care about the bad guys, I wanted to know what Tom and his spacers would do, how the militia would help or hurt the cause.
I liked this series and part of me wanted it to end differently, with a big tidy bow on the story but that's not what I got, now I keep imagining my own continuation and I don't think I mind it much. I recommend, it'll meet that military sci-fi itch, good narrative and, some busting or at least reshaping of some of those conventions that keep us coming back to these kinds of books.

very entertaining.

thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy. The narration may be the best of any audiobook I've listened to.

Excellent Series

This was an excellent series both by the writer and the narrator. Looking on audible I only see one other book by the writer. I wish there were more.

Great Series

This ongoing story will stay with you.
The books are well written and the narration is spot on.
I think one of the best parts is when Tom stands up for the people and puts down the mad woman who thinks everyone is a traitor no matter what the people are put through!

Why?

Why choose this far in to make O”Rilley start sounding like a citizen of the green zone?

Why is it a popular trend to make characters who are ruthless and hard as nails women? Women, while quite often ruthless are far less likely physical specimens of war. I would say less than 1% of women are capable of the physical and mental capabilities displayed by characters in this book. Why must we have to go “woke” with female characters? I’m already stretching my imagination to the limit here with a galactic war going on.

Why is Tom not developing as a character? Every time he gets in the commanders seat, said ship is going to be destroyed. Throw home boy a bone and make him just a tad more competent… or you can’t because he’s a man?

Why aren’t we ever given and explanation of how these other nations were formed and if there are extraterrestrial life forms in any of these other groups? I was in book two or three when I realized the DA were Russo-Chinese types and the STA or whatever you call them are Brits for some reason. Is it more humans in the galactic core war? How did these other groups form? If their are other habital planets, why terraform the green zone at all?

I think this is my last book.

Brilliant Series

What a great book to end the series. I loved each and every book. Narrator was awesome. I love it when a narrator can give to each and every listener a great performance. Too many narrator do such a poor job, they spoil the book for the listener. This narrator did an exceptional job and each character was so different, it was more like actually listening to a film.
