strange pronunciation

I didn't really notice until these past five or so lessons, but some of the pronunciations are strange. I showed one of my friends who is a native Russian speaker and he wasn't sure either. for example, they say it like по-русске, but it is actually по-русски. They say not to look words up, write words down etc. but sometimes I look words up for their spelling just in case because I don't always trust the strange pronunciations. this would be from lesson one all the way up to this point. Other than that I highly recommend Pimsleur. I have learned Russian rather quickly so far.
