Story
Fight, survive, adapt, and rely only on yourself. That is Derek’s creed and what's got him through the System Integration on Earth. Everything changed when the System came. Cute bunnies and beautiful butterflies became savage killing machines. Then the Invaders arrived with a single goal: to obtain ownership of this new habitable planet. War has raged ever since. None of this mattered much to Derek, aside from making living a little more perilous.

Story
It's Ruwen’s Ascension Day, and he finally dies for the first time. His newly revived body can learn spells and abilities for the class given him by the Goddess Uru, and dying is no longer permanent. Ruwen’s high intelligence makes becoming a Mage inevitable. With his new powers, he will locate his parents and clear their family name. But nothing goes as Ruwen imagined, and when a rival God tries to kill Ruwen shortly after his disastrous Ascension, his focus turns from his future to just surviving.

Story
In a blink, I found myself in an unknown land, greeted by the textbox of an unfriendly system. It wanted me to become a great hero, save the world, win the love of the people and all that crap. But this new world already had a hero. Why should I bust my ass and deal with dragons and the unknown for people I didn't know? Let him deal with that. It's his job! So instead of being tempted by the system's nonsense, I chose a simple class. Potion maker. I wasn't interested in cultivating mana and defying the heavens, courting death, none of that crap.

"Kill. Kill them all." It's the first four words Lars usually wakes up to every morning, a voice telling him she's just giving him a "quest" that will help him "level". But even if he wanted to do it, he can't. They're cultivators: beings with ancestral bloodlines that have powers he could only dream of, while he is stuck as a puny human. Even if he could kill them, the people who bullied him, beat him, treated him like a punch-bag pariah for being a "tailless worthless human", he wouldn't. That is, until a vicious group of murderous psychopaths called a "sect" descend on his village.

Can't stand the MC.
Gave up at chapter 5. I don't like MC's that are pushovers. I have no respect for people who do not stand up for themselves. Otherwise the narration is very good. And the magic system is interesting. Would have loved it if the MC was not a limp noodle pushover.

Story & Narrator 10/10
I have read roughly 15 lit rpg books so far and the story is very captivating. Enough so I stopped halfway though another book to finish this one. That being said the narrator takes the book to another level, really bringing out the personality’s of the characters. Really and truly fantastic narration.

I don’t think it’s the story as the concept is good. I am going to read it on kindle.
The narration and the voice they do for the main character I just can’t handle it.
Listen to the sample, I didn’t and regret that.

Combat, comedy and Cow man!
Good:
- Comedy is on point, gave me a hearty chuckle.
- Narration is superb, it made the book 100x more amazing. His different voices for every character made it easy to follow who is who.
- Unique style of leveling up, and skills are not generic, made me guess what he could be getting next.
- The quests are interesting with the author adding his own flair to the usual fantasy races.
- He didn't choose human as a starting character.
- Non stop action from start to finish.
- Almost 19 hrs, that is a great deal!
- Supporting characters are well written, you actually care about them.
Bad
- Honestly, the faults of the book are so minuscule that you just forget/forgive it. Nothing that really pissed me off or took me away from the story.
I highly recommend this book, if you are looking for something funny with mindless violence to take you away from your mundane life. This is the book. Buy it. You will love it.

Insufferable characters
Note: Luke Daniels is fantastic. This has nothing to do with him.
The book is well written but the main character reeks of Mountain Dew and Cheetos and probably wore a fedora in his Earth life.
Mercy is a foul, toxic character. When Neckbeard Main Character got shot with an arrow, I figured it was her that shot him.
All the characters are manifestation of tropes unfortunately very common in these otherwise extremely fun books within the same and similar genres. It feels like the authors got into fights with their wives and spent the entire books trying to apologize on behalf of all men towards women by making the female characters smarter and generally better than the men, while simultaneously condescending women by having them act like petulant children, and referring to their “pretty little faces” and calling their behavior “tantrums.”

The narrator absolutely made this novel
the narrator really brought the characters to life and added so much flavor to the conversations that left you feeling involved and relatable. The story had some good flow with the main character that owned up to his own level of crazy but still acknowledge that there was some work that he could do. The magic and divinity powers were interesting with a little more narrowed leveling and skill system that leaves some powers and abilities a little more ambiguous and their use. I will definitely be checking out the next book when it comes out but will probably wait until it is on audible

This has got to be one of the biggest disappointments I’ve personally come across. This year it ranks 2 on disappointment #1 being Awakening Magic. This story has all the promise of greatness and the follow through of a kindergartner. The world the types of monsters the gods etc all of those things set this up to be amazing . The execution of the book is horrendous there is absolutely no way I deal with the second book No matter how much I love Luke Chmilenko as a narrator.
My experience I hope tampers some expectations when considering this and I hope that makes a difference. This should be in the catalog and be free not worth the credit.
