Publisher's Summary

Maulkin didn't know dying would mean a new eternity of dungeon delving, monster slaying, and glory hunting. If he had, he wouldn't have been so worried about kicking the bucket on a date gone even more wrong than usual.

Reborn in the wild world of Amaranth, Maulkin finds himself in a hulking demi-human body with a sword of a size to match. Marked as an Eternal, a fledging immortal of boundless potential, Maulkin soon discovers he's been given a mission by the elder pantheon of this new realm:

Grow stronger. Ascend to godhood. Spread chaos in their name.

Oh and fend off that inbound apocalypse, if he can find the time.

Who wants an easy afterlife anyway?

Can't stand the MC.

Gave up at chapter 5. I don't like MC's that are pushovers. I have no respect for people who do not stand up for themselves. Otherwise the narration is very good. And the magic system is interesting. Would have loved it if the MC was not a limp noodle pushover.

Story & Narrator 10/10

I have read roughly 15 lit rpg books so far and the story is very captivating. Enough so I stopped halfway though another book to finish this one. That being said the narrator takes the book to another level, really bringing out the personality’s of the characters. Really and truly fantastic narration.

Struggled

I don’t think it’s the story as the concept is good. I am going to read it on kindle.

The narration and the voice they do for the main character I just can’t handle it.

Listen to the sample, I didn’t and regret that.

Personal tastes.

Combat, comedy and Cow man!

Good:

- Comedy is on point, gave me a hearty chuckle.
- Narration is superb, it made the book 100x more amazing. His different voices for every character made it easy to follow who is who.
- Unique style of leveling up, and skills are not generic, made me guess what he could be getting next.
- The quests are interesting with the author adding his own flair to the usual fantasy races.
- He didn't choose human as a starting character.
- Non stop action from start to finish.
- Almost 19 hrs, that is a great deal!
- Supporting characters are well written, you actually care about them.

Bad

- Honestly, the faults of the book are so minuscule that you just forget/forgive it. Nothing that really pissed me off or took me away from the story.

I highly recommend this book, if you are looking for something funny with mindless violence to take you away from your mundane life. This is the book. Buy it. You will love it.

terrible litrpg

omg what a waste. Luke Daniel is the only good part of this book. MC is a complete and utterly moron who blunders his way through. On top of that he dribbles on with his thoughts like he's a sage but yet makes dumb decisions thats happens to work out. honestly I could go on about details that made this book a waste but I will not because I want to forget this turd stain of a book..........plz for the love of litrpgs dnt buy

its an ok book but not one I would continue follow

dumb mc making cracks and puns all the time. I am confused as to why skills aren't upgraded and don't care enough to bother knowing why. the whole book the mc is near death every fight and heals save the day. rinse and repeat.....

Insufferable characters

Note: Luke Daniels is fantastic. This has nothing to do with him.

The book is well written but the main character reeks of Mountain Dew and Cheetos and probably wore a fedora in his Earth life.

Mercy is a foul, toxic character. When Neckbeard Main Character got shot with an arrow, I figured it was her that shot him.

All the characters are manifestation of tropes unfortunately very common in these otherwise extremely fun books within the same and similar genres. It feels like the authors got into fights with their wives and spent the entire books trying to apologize on behalf of all men towards women by making the female characters smarter and generally better than the men, while simultaneously condescending women by having them act like petulant children, and referring to their “pretty little faces” and calling their behavior “tantrums.”

Slapstick Comedy meets LitRPG in the best possible way.

Imagine an otaku jettisoned out of his room and into a world he’s always fantasized about. And then he gets kicked in the nuts.

The narrator absolutely made this novel

the narrator really brought the characters to life and added so much flavor to the conversations that left you feeling involved and relatable. The story had some good flow with the main character that owned up to his own level of crazy but still acknowledge that there was some work that he could do. The magic and divinity powers were interesting with a little more narrowed leveling and skill system that leaves some powers and abilities a little more ambiguous and their use. I will definitely be checking out the next book when it comes out but will probably wait until it is on audible

When a fun story and a great narrator meet!

I was uncertain when my friend recommended this book to me but my doubts were unfounded. The world was interesting, MC while a meat head was not stupid. the supporting character were fun and interesting. To top it all off Luke Daniels killed it. 💪

Elementary

This has got to be one of the biggest disappointments I’ve personally come across. This year it ranks 2 on disappointment #1 being Awakening Magic. This story has all the promise of greatness and the follow through of a kindergartner. The world the types of monsters the gods etc all of those things set this up to be amazing . The execution of the book is horrendous there is absolutely no way I deal with the second book No matter how much I love Luke Chmilenko as a narrator.

My experience I hope tampers some expectations when considering this and I hope that makes a difference. This should be in the catalog and be free not worth the credit.

Wow just wow!!

At first I was skeptical of how good this book could be as good as the reviews but boy was I surprised. The writing and the narrator had me laughing and intrigued. I’m honestly sad that I have to wait for the next book. Please hurry and keep the same narrator!!!
