Publisher's Summary
The first book in a new, savagely intense series from New York Times best-selling author Lisa Renee Jones.
Rick Savage, but they call him Savage and for a reason. He can make you laugh and then rip your heart out. No one knows that more than me, Candace Marks, the woman he left bleeding from the heart. I loved him. Lord help me, I’ve never stopped loving him.
Now, I’m engaged to another man, a brutal man I’m trapped into marrying, when to my shock, Savage returns home. Savage, who I haven't heard from in years. I want to hate him. I have ever reason to hate him, but I can’t. I still love him, and I fear he will save me just to leave me bleeding one last time. He stirs my desires, a dark, delicious, and dangerous man destined to hurt me and leave me. This time, I’m not sure I'll survive.

First, this is not the first in a trilogy, it's the first third of a book. Which is fine if you pick it up as part of the Escape package, not so much if you use a credit.
Second, the narration of this book is why I dislike dual narrators. When the female narrator especially reads the male dialog it is very jarring as it sounds nothing like the male narrator.

squeal inducing
Savage and Candace face danger and intrigue while fighting for their second chance in this squeal inducing suspence with all the hotness Lisa Renee Jones has made me a fan of.

holes in story
The book was well written but felt there was holes. I got lost in the story and couldn't connect with the characters. The narration was done just and was enjoyable to listen.

CLIFFHANGER!!! Enough said.
It would be amazing if there was a warning when a book is not a stand-alone, ending on a huge cliffhanger.
It would give people the choice to:
1. Buy it knowing you'll have to wait for next book/s (3 more books in this case).
or
2. Wait until the whole series is out.
There was no warning here, so as much as I would like to find out the rest of Savage's story, I'll refrain from buying the other books for the time being. It really was not worth the aggravation.
Love Jason Clarke, so that was a plus.

Military second chance
In Savage Hunger we meet Candace Marks and Rick Savage. They met ten years ago in San Antonio, Texas. Candace is an Army brat whose father is a five-star general. Rick was the type of guy her father didn’t want her involved with. Not long after they dated he was deployed as a black ops.
When he returned he started Walker Security leaving behind Candace and Texas. She’s his past and Walker Security is his job.
Eight years later politics and corruption has him returning to his past and Texas. Rick is back for a second chance to fix the mistake of leaving her. He wants one more chance to correct the wrong.
I appreciated the backstory of how Candace and Rick met. Yet it was not enough to formulate this grand love fest they had for one another.
Savage Hunger is not the type of book I read. I usually stay away from anything military. Savage Hunger is book 1 in the Savage series. There are four books in the series. Each book continues the story of Rick and Candace. I haven’t had much luck reading Lisa Renee Jones in the past. I thought I’d give it another go. I’m sad to say her writing style doesn’t work for me. I’ve tried on numerous occasions to give Lisa Renee Jone’s books a try, but her writing voice doesn’t propel the story forward in the ways I desire.
Narrators:
Savannah Peachwood is an award winning audiobook narrator. Her performance of Candace’s character was excellent.
Jason Clarke is an award nominated audiobook narrator. His performance of Rick’s character was superb.
Both narrators together increased my interest in this book. Had it not been for their performances I would’ve skim read this book. Having both points of view was excellent. My preference is still a duet which this was not. But a dual performance will suffice.
I wasn’t crazy about this book, but it’s no fault of the narrators who nailed their performances. I will continue to listen to their work.
Unabridged audiobook. Listening time 5 hours 29 minutes. I listened at 2X the speed.

Exciting!
This one will keep you wanting more! Rick is a surgeon and a killer. He left Candice for over eight years and when he came back, things were tangled up.
Savannah and Jason are talented narrators that brings all the feelings into the characters! Can’t wait for the next one.
