The Menacing Misfits are back!

After successfully finishing his first year at Darkthorn Academy, Jack returns to Sunder with his new friend, Stannerios. Together, Jack and Stann intend to enjoy their summer preparing for their second year. But even in Sunder they aren’t safe, as they deal with street thugs and assassins. When Jack and Stann finally return to Darkthorn Academy and reunite with the rest of the team, they learn that things have changed. A new headmaster has been appointed and the rules for questers have changed drastically. Can they survive a second year at the academy or will they find a new path to success?

Books two includes even more gamelit aspects, including crafting, cultivation, a new bio-tech interface, and a few new mentors.

I think I know…..Wrong!

I have to laugh sometimes because I expect the book to follow one direction and then out of the blue, it turns down a completely different path! I really am enjoying this series. That said the reader/editing of the audio isn’t the best. There are too many small gaps in a monologue that should be seamless. I also find some of the voices a bit to high and nasally and grate on my nerves. On the whole a good reader, but there is always room for improvements :)

Better than the first one but...

I liked it a lot and look forward to the next book, still feel as though there's a lot of plot armor of sorts mind you but I find it much better writing than thee first one in many ways.

Can't wait for the next book!

Had a great time listening to the book! The cliffhanger at the end has me stressing for when the next audiobook will come out.

Great

Loved the story. This one goes a little more into the stats the the first but not to the point of reading excel spread sheets, a present change from some other books.
Great reader, I feel he did a better job at differentiating the characters on this book.

The Plot is great and leaves me wanting more.

Let's hope!!

Really hoping that the author continues this series.... The other 2 series I found on audible, are only 2 books for each so hopefully this one gets a third.

Exactly what you expect from Gamelit

Definitely a bit on the YA side but still a light fun GameLit Book. Entertaining but on the light side.

Stilted

The story was great but the audio was very very stilted. There were long pauses that were unnecessary and gave the book an overall stilted feeling. It was like they pieced it all together from other recordings and didn't edit the pauses or gaps out.

Just terrible

If you’re a young reader, this may be a good book. But if you are someone who appreciates nuance, intriguing rhetoric or any skillful writing, please be aware that my wife and I “hate-listened” to this book out of spite. It wouldn’t be so bad if the narrator was better, but between the writing style, over explaining everything and glossing over any details that are interesting, and the beach boy voice overs, it is just terrible.

Great second book

I cannot wait for the third book. I would even say, the second was better than the first book 🤓

Dang good story!

I had a hard time putting the last two books down. Spend the credit if you like a clean story without being to young adult. It is a coming of age series so it's expected to be about teens etc.

Great book, excellent character development!!! I need more

I love the route this book is taking. I gave 4 stars for performance because sometimes the pauses between voices was a little long. This is my first time reading a series by Robyn and I will definitely be checking out his other material.

Great story but mediocre narration

I've heard other stuff narrated by Vikas Adam and this is subpar for him. It's like he's making the dialogue sound as clunky as possible and using annoying voices intentionally.

The author made the choice to not use many contractions which sort of makes the flow of conversations not feel very natural. Normally a narrator would do their best to smooth it over but that's definitely not the case here.

I'll keep listening because I enjoy the story but the dialogue straight up makes me cringe sometimes.
