Publisher's Summary

New York Times Best Seller

An all-new, official prequel novel to The Battle for Azeroth, Blizzard Entertainment's next expansion to the critically acclaimed World of Warcraft video game.

Azeroth is dying.

The Horde and the Alliance defeated the demonic Burning Legion, but a dire catastrophe is unfolding deep below the surface of the world. There is a mortal wound in the heart of Azeroth, struck by the sword of the fallen titan Sargeras in a final act of cruelty.

For Anduin Wrynn, king of Stormwind, and Sylvanas Windrunner, warchief of the Horde and queen of the Forsaken, there is little time to rebuild what remains and even less to mourn what was lost. Azeroth's devastating wound has revealed a mysterious material known as Azerite. In the right hands, this strange golden substance is capable of incredible feats of creation; in the wrong ones, it could bring forth unthinkable destruction.

As Alliance and Horde forces race to uncover the secrets of Azerite and heal the wounded world, Anduin enacts a desperate plan aimed at forging a lasting peace between the factions. Azerite jeopardizes the balance of power, and so Anduin must gain the trust of Sylvanas. But, as ever, the Dark Lady has her own machinations.

For peace to be possible, generations of bloodshed and hatred must be brought to an end. But there are truths that neither side is willing to accept and ambitions they are loath to relinquish. As Alliance and Horde alike grasp for the Azerite's power, their simmering conflict threatens to reignite all-out war - a war that would spell doom for Azeroth.

Heavily needed pre-BFA story - Must "Read"

Narrated by Anduin Wrynn (Josh Keaton), this book hits many needed points of story, lore, characters and more leading as the carry through between the end of World of Warcraft's Legion expansion and into Battle for Azeroth. If you hunger to know more about the characters you love, or love to hate, you -must- experience this gem by Christie Golden before the expansion hits..

Another fantastic work by Golden in Warcraft

Christie golden has done an excellent job of wrapping up the legion story for both factions. Setting up the threads for battle for Azeroth. As well as giving a good look into the minds of the faction leaders and the politics they follow. A must read for any fan of the story of world of Warcraft.

Great story to lead us into Battle for Azeroth!

Was surprised to see the political side of World of Warcraft rather than the war heavy lore but ended up enjoying it none the less. If you're not a wow fan then you'll find yourself lost but for the average wow head you're in for a treat!

A wonderful story with lots of heart wrenching moment

It was an extremely well developed story with a lot of great transitions. There was also a lot of heart wrenching moments that I truly appreciated.

Also, great narration. Well done!

Masterpiece

As a true World of Warcraft fan this is a masterpiece like every other Warcraft novel. From the story, to the voice acting of every character and to the music, this was a beautiful experience as my very first audiobook. Christie Golden is an expert at representing the deep and rich story into only words as if you could be there. I deeply recommend reading this and all of the other Warcraft novels if you are either a fan of the universe already or not.

Another amazing title by Christie Golden

I have read a few of Christie Golden World of Warcraft novels and this is one of my new favourites. I enjoyed this audiobook from start to finish. The storyline is very engaging and I was hooked after the first few chapters. The narration is also fantastic. Josh Keaton (the in-game voice actor for Anduin) did a great job adding nuances to the different characters voices and conveying their personalities.

I purchased this audiobook to get some context before the upcoming expansion and I'm happy that I did because I think this really gives a lot of insight into the motivations of the Horde and Alliance and sets the stage for the lore to come.

Amazing Experience

This book is just great. It's narrated by King Anduin's voice actor from the game, who performs excellently in every role (except Moira, but I'll give him a pass because the rest were great). Each chapter starts with a minute of music from the in-game location the chapter takes place in. On top of all that, the story is gripping and compelling, with enough background and context added to be enjoyable to players of World of Warcraft and casual readers alike, which is rare in a novel of this type. All in all, a fantastic experience I heartily recommend.

Amazing voice acting, great story

The book is voiced by the guy who voices Anduin in world of warcraft. But he also does a bang up job voicing every other character in the book! (Except for Moira but there’s only so much he can do with a lady dwarf voice)

I need Battle For Azeroth now!

This is the first time I've experienced one of the Warcraft books before an expansion coming out. It's made me laugh and cry. Cry a few times really. And I enjoyed every moment of it.

I can't wait to see what the game's expansion has in store!

There are plenty of descriptions to let your imagination build the world and the characters if you are unfamiliar with the content, but knowing the lore of the land and the characters helps a bunch. Knowledge of the lore and the experience of the games will have great effect on the enjoyment of the book.

Definitely a must read/listen for any avid Warcraft fan!

Amazing Book! Super Excited for WoW BFA

This Book was really amazing. I wish they had closed some plot points. But This book gives some really good insight into the thought of characters that give me a great look at how they will act in the game. My most memorable moment was at the end when Anduin finally learned and tempered the wisdom of Genn Greymane into what would be a battle for azeroth. This Book has taken 8 straight Hours of my life, I am glad to say that I enjoyed those hours, I cried during those hours too. This was really a great Book that I think anyone that is interested in the Lore of World Of Warcraft, wanting to know the lead up to the new expansion or just anyone curious should give a listen to start to finish.

So amazing story

The story is exceptional, I enjoyed it a lot. The performance was very good; the only thing I didn't like was Sylvanna's voice interpretation, at least for me sounded like the voice of Megatron.

Love WoW, not a big fan of the story.

All-in-all I really love World of Warcraft's environment and interaction with its main characters as a whole. Getting to see the inner monologues of the two of main leaders controlling the alliance and horde is kind of awesome. My issue more comes from the story not being it's own its story in the contacts that it has A beginning, build up, and conclusion it's pretty much just a prelude to the game and that doesn't make a good book. IMO

Not as good as previous books

All in all it was a good World of Warcraft book but I had my hopes up that it would be as rich or richer in lore as previous books were. I felt let down in that notion. The book was well written and I did enjoy the journey it takes you on so I rate it a 4 overall. Hope this helps others.

Worth buying, but beware of slow and dull dialogue

This one is a little hard to get through, Too much small talk. Anduin is not exactly a super exciting character, so I feel like the arch from beginning to end is a bit too long in relation to the storyline. I think my WoW loyalty helped me stay with it. Again... not the worst, still glad I bought it but not as good as other WoW books. People talking, people talking... something happens, people talking again.

Great narator, not so great story...

70% Mr always perfect-boy king-Anduin, 20% moustache twirling-"morally grey"-evil - sylvanas, 10% "who are they again?" -random characters.

Don't get me wrong, it's enjoyable, but it's a book about anduin, and narated by it's (amazing) voice actor.
The story, even if it has its moments, is far from perfect.
