About this listen

From Wall Street Journal and USA Today best-selling author M. Robinson comes a standalone best friend’s baby sister, second chance billionaire romance.

She was my best friend's little sister, which meant she was off limits, but I couldn’t help myself. I never could when it came to her, and in the end, I left town and made something of my myself.

Ten years later and I'm one of the richest men in the world. I have everything I ever wanted...except for her.

Little did I know, life would give me a second chance to make things right by her. She's now suddenly my publicist, treating me as if I'm nothing more than another client, when I stole all her firsts. Including her heart. I need to take matters into my own hands, so I'm making her an offer she can't refuse.

She's signed a contract stating that for the next 10 days…. She's mine.

Both the MMC and the FMC were toxic. Autumn came back into the picture with what seemed to be a vicious vengeance with a purpose to hurt. I did not like the fact that she had ammunition going in but lied about it, waiting to use it or abuse it without considering how hurtful it was to her family. The MMC was controlled by circumstances but he was also a coward for not coming back sooner. The FMC was was a young manipulative girl with intent to control from beginning to end. She did grow up eventually but it took her 10 years. They both needed to grow up and take responsibility for their actions, it was disappointing to see it take 10 years.

Good narration, storyline was a roller coaster.

I’m totally triggered. One of the worst MMC’s I’ve seen in a long time. He mentally & emotionally abuses the FMC. He doesn’t love her. He has a sick, possessive obsession with the FMC & has no issues with being verbally & emotionally cruel with her in order to get his way. It’s not sexy at all. Also, when a woman says “no” or “stop” & the man keeps on with his sexual advances, that is sexual abuse, bordering on rape. No, means No. I will not be reading (or listening) to anything else from this author, seeing as abusive behaviour is glorified in their work. At least the FMC is somewhat strong-willed.

Toxic masculinity (narcism, verbal abuse, mental abuse)

The narration was good.
The story was decent.
I struggled with the back to the past scenes on repeat and felt it was a little overdone.

It would have been nice if the story included something about the daughter being told to be kinder to her mother.

Decent listen but toxic relationship

The MMC is completely toxic. doesn't take her feelings into consideration for anything. he just does what he wants, whether she likes it or not. That's not love. That's control, and it's not sexy. especially when he's got her pinned down, and she's telling him to move. when did "no means no" go out of style? And then she just gives in every time.

Performance-wise, the female narrator is pretty good. but the male narrator not so much. It almost sounds like AI, there is so little emotion or nuance in it.

Much Too Toxic

I couldn't even finish this book. All contemporary romance have degrees of unbelievability but the male character in this book says disgusting things and acts in ways that no person would let alone someone capable of building an empire. People who love each other wouldn't treat each other this way and they're essentially brother and sister.
