Well narrated and good story

The concept has been done before, sure, but it's an enjoyable read and an interesting enough world. I found myself cheering for one of the side characters throughout the whole story so there was someone for me to relate with. It's definitely more geared towards a younger audience, my teenage self would have absolutely loved this but there's enough content in here for an older audience too.

it was an enjoyable read( yes yes, a listen ) and will likely check out book two once I finish going through the current backlog in my library.

What even was that

Lemme start by saying I don't review a lot, and I'm at the point I've been through like 400+ books on here and I'm really running out of good options. So I took the chance on this book after seen the high rating. But wow did I have to come back to warn people about this book. The best review on here is the guy saying this was written for 10 year olds. It's seems very likely to be a Young Adult book, or maybe feels more like a roughly translated foreign book. Just low quality writing or poor editing, sometimes it's written dumb down enough for kids then random sentences or words someone starts taking like a wall street banker and your wondering if the character has a multiple personality disorder.

Mc is barely likeable and just automatically wins everything, which can be fun if the authors given him a good story or personality(he didn't and he doesn't). Then there's Toby, hes the single worst character I've ever seen, in any book I've ever read. A whining crybaby that's afraid of everything and never willing to do anything he isn't forced to but still somehow just as strong as his friends because plot i guess.

Here's the crazy thing, and why it isn't rated 1 star. I actually really like the world, and most of the side characters and the magic system, those are all decent enough, and if you can get it for free, or maybe your a bit younger, it's fine I guess, but there's 100s of better titles you should listen to first.
