Publisher's Summary

Special Forces Sergeant Dax Holloway crawled out of the Taliban's clutches barely alive. His captors took more than his sight. They took his humanity.

Six years later, he’s carved out an existence back in Boston. One dependent on routines. On walking the same path. Day after day. Through darkness and pain. Always alone.

Second Sight is his only refuge. The most elite investigative firm in the country - built from the rubble of his former life - gives him purpose in a world he can no longer see.

Evianna Archer’s life makes sense. A brilliant coder, she’s poised to be the next darling of the tech world - heading up a project that will redefine home security. Until one moment changes everything.

Her life in chaos, she turns to Dax for protection. He's everything she shouldn’t want, shouldn’t need, shouldn’t trust. But she’s drawn to him.

When they uncover a shocking secret, Dax must make a choice. Stay broken? Or risk his heart - and his life - for the woman who chases all his dark shadows away?

Second Sight is a slow burn military romantic thriller. All books in the Away from Keyboard Series are standalone romances featuring a different couple, but past couples and characters play active roles in future books.

The disabled vet and the computer geek

This book had just the right mix of suspense and steamy! Evianna has clawed her way in a career dominated by men and, as the CIO of a large tech company, and working on a security app that will change lives, she couldn't be happier. That is, until she discovers that one of her team members had illegally uploaded a copy of the app to a cloud server...a fire-able offense. When the ex-employee begins to send threatening emails and comes to her house, Evianna decides that it's time to hire a bodyguard. That's where retired special forces op, Dax Halloway comes into play. His security company, Second Sight, is his baby, ever since he returned from Afghanistan 6yrs ago...barely alive and with his sight gone. Meeting Evianna wakes something in Dax that he thought he'd lost when his ex-wife walked out saying that she couldn't handle his disabilities. How can a blind man keep Evianna safe? Who is really behind the death threats when the ex-employee is found murdered? This is a fast paced, action-packed story with some romance and a great HEA.

Awesome Story & Narration🎧 Gripping & Intense!

This book is absolutely amazing, it grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it straight to the end. Patricia D. Eddy is a gifted author and a master at writing suspenseful romance novels, this story took me to the edge of my seat several times. This book is Dax Holloway and Evianna Archer’s story. Special Forces Sergeant Dax Holloway was tortured and held captive for fifteen months. He has settled into civilian life, started an elite investigative firm called Second Site. That firm became his life and his existence, it was all he had until she walks in and changes how he sees things. Evianna is working on the project of a life time, coding and creating new home security technology that will become a household name. But not everything is on the up and up at her job and she finds she is in danger, the police can only do so much so she turns to Second Sight for security and to find out who is going after her. Dax usually works behind the scenes but when several of his colleagues get called away to work another job he works more directly with the client, Evianna. I loved these two together, Evianna was drawn to Dax, she really got him and what was behind the broken shell of himself. I loved how everything plays out in this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, some angst, action, mystery, thrilling suspense, heartfelt and emotional moments and a great romance. Patricia D Eddy, thank you for another awesome story, I love the characters in this series, they are perfectly imperfect, broken in their own ways yet they are naturally born heroes who continue to help others in one way or another. 🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Aiden Snow and Grace Grant are fabulous narrators voice artists. They continue to do an awesome job bringing these character to life. Their portrayal of the characters is spot on, they take each role and make it their own, sounding naturally and just as I picture them to sound. They set the perfect tone for the story capture the character’s emotions and projects them into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧

Emotional Overload

If you are looking for a book that sucks you in from the opening dialogue and locks you down to the very last word - look no further. Once again Patricia D. Eddy creates a world filled with intrigue, emotion and angst. Broken characters that can only be put back together again with love and understanding is a small glimpse of the entire Away from the Keyboard series. Dax and Evianna are perfect for each other and I cannot wait to see where the next audio-book takes us. Aiden Snow and Grace Grant brought the characters to life - loved them!!

Another winner by the author

Patricia D Eddy is automatic download for me. I love the whole series and this was my favourite of the series. Where can I find my own Dax? He tore at my heartstrings and is a strong character. Eviana is a woman goal. Smart, confident, and built like a woman. Aiden Snow and Grace Grant were the perfect Dax and Eviana. I’ve read all the books but will definitely be downloading the other audiobooks.

Heartbreaking & Wonderful!

Complex characters with exciting plot twists and great narration!! Patricia Eddy is a definite favorite go-to for complex character development and scenarios you don't often see in romance. Dax's traumatic history is heartbreaking and exquisitely told in a way that isn't flashy or pushy. His trauma is recognized as a part of him and not used as a crutch in the story. To witness this character's evolution throughout the story was a beautiful experience! Evianna is a strong female tech nerd who has had to claw her way through a male-dominated profession, so I really connected with her. She has never experienced anything requiring protection, but when her world is turned upside down her reaction to and embracing of what needs to be done is spot-on believably perfect. The way she adapts, how they grow together, and the attention to detail really carried the story for me! Aiden and Grace are excellent narrators who deliver great performances in this audiobook! I'm not sure what made me start out with book number 4, but I will be going back to listen to the whole series!! #FaveyList #NarratorMotivated #DirtyAudioCleanHands #NarratorsAreMyRockStars

Y'all aren't ready...

This book was referred to me and while the premise was interesting. I was captivated from the beginning. The Hero, Dax Holloway, has been disabled in service but his character was well developed. The narrator , Aiden Snow, did an amazing job of bringing Dax to life. Grace Grant did wonderful as Eviana. If you seeking an action/suspense/romance, Second Sight is the book for you.

Love this series!

Romantic suspense is my favorite kind of listen and no one does it better than Patricia D Eddy. Second Sight has to be my favorite of Away From the Keyboard series and I will tell you why! Dax Halloway has started Second Sight after returning the civilian life. He is blind and has a slight limp, but this does not stop his elite investigative company from being successful. When he is approached by Eviana for protection, he finds himself drawn to her. But who wants a broken soldier? What a story! I could not stop listening. Dax is such a complex character. His darkness is his strength and it’s fresh and exciting getting to know him. Eviana is amazing. She is brilliant, beautiful and can see past Dax’s insecurities. The story is full of twists and turns, gives us cameos by characters past and lets us feel the thrills of the unknown. This is why I listen and can’t wait for the next in the series. Aiden Snow and Grace Grant continue this series with their fantastic narration. Snow is incredible as Dax. His voice holds a roughness that lets us know his hardness, yet he is able to have that vulnerable tone so he gets our sympathy. Grant is spot on with her interpretation of Eviana. She has a confidence that emanates in her tone, giving her the strength she needs to get through so much. Then she can turn and flow the love through her voice so we know exactly what she is feeling. This is one of my favorite teams and will be watching for the next in the series.

My favorite book so far!💜

This is book 4 in this series and definitely my favorite, or maybe tied with books 1,2 &3. lol. I love how this team of special forces continue to band together to help those who cannot help themselves. They are physically damaged and mentally broken and still manage to be strong, protective and find their HEA! Grace Grant is a very good narrator. IMO a little too slow for some parts the male characters while absolutely perfect on the female characters. Aiden Snow, where have you been all my life? HAF, sexy deep voice and amazing narration. Although this book is part of a series, each one can be read as a standalone. I 100% recommend this book/series. Sisters Spotlight 💜

Amazing Story and Narration!

This is the fourth book in the Away From Keyboard Series. I love this Series so much! Dax and Evianna's story is breathtaking, suspenseful and wonderful. They are both beautiful and strong characters, and they share an undeniable chemistry. I loved to see again Ryker and Wren. Ryker and Dax's story is totally heartbreaking, and we learn more about their past. The brotherhood between them is strong and exceptional. The Epilogue is so heartwarming and beautiful. Aiden Snow and Grace Grant did an outstanding job with the narration. I have read this story before, the narrators bring this story to life with all he feels required. I truly enjoyed listening this story and I highly recommend it.
