Publisher's Summary

Twelve. Twelve of the deadliest beasts ever forged in the fires of hell have escaped onto our plane, and they want nothing more than to rip out the jugular of Charley Davidson and serve her lifeless, mangled body to Satan for dinner. So there's that. But Charley has more on her plate than a mob of testy hellhounds. For one thing, her father has disappeared, and the more she retraces his last steps, the more she learns he was conducting an investigation of his own, one that has Charley questioning everything she's ever known about him. Add to that an ex-BFF who is haunting her night and day, a rash of suicides that has authorities baffled, and a drop-dead sexy fiancé who has attracted the attentions of a local celebrity, and Charley is not having the best week of her life.

But all of that combined barely scratches the surface of her problems. Recent developments - and a few distressing prophesies - have forced her to become a responsible adult. Exactly the kind of adult she's never aspired to be. To conquer such a monumental task, she's decided to start small. Really small. She gets a pet. But how can she save the world against the forces of evil when she can’t even keep a goldfish alive? A tad north of hell, a hop, skip, and a jump past the realm of eternity, is a little place called Earth, and Charley Davidson, grim reaper extraordinaire, is determined to do everything in her power to protect it. We're doomed.

Sarcasm at its finest.

Another funny book to add to the Charlie Davidson's collection. I do love Charlie but sometimes she does the stupidest things. Of course that is part of her charm. She cracks me up with her antics and sarcasm even while you roll your eyes at her. We get to see all the old gang again which is great, love them all. By now if you have been listening to this series you know you like it so if you haven't gotten it yet, what are you waiting for? Narrator is awesome as usual and has the perfect pitch for all the characters.

Charley Needs to Grow Up!

Where does Seventh Grave and No Body rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's mid-way down the list.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Predictable but interesting.

Have you listened to any of Lorelei King’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Hmm, not sure.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No.

Any additional comments?

I don't know if I'm going to continue with this series. The humor seems forced at times and others? I was rolling my eyes. Charley hasn't really matured much and if I was Reyes, I would leave her and her antics behind. She doesn't seem to learn from her mistakes.

Best T-Shirt Lines Ever

Great series - the story line is interesting and the characters (I love Cookie) not only have some depth but they are hysterical. It is a great distraction read and the chapter headings with their pithy t-shirt and bumper sticker quotes always make my day.

ONE OF THE BEST BOOK SERIES OUT THERE.

If you love Jeaniene Frost or Kresely Cole's book series you HAVE to give this series a try. Each book has different adventures that your favorite characters go on so one never gets bored and each book is better than the last. The author has developed a fun and amazing character in Charley Davidson that you won't be able to get enough of. Laughter, romance, and supernatural beings, what more can you ask for.

Charlie really finds her power

If you could sum up Seventh Grave and No Body in three words, what would they be?

Supernatural, Superpower , Reaper

What did you like best about this story?

Charlie really finds out who she is and learns to use her powers. There are some very strange and nasty happenings, however every book in this series has just gotten better and better.

What about Lorelei King’s performance did you like?

I've listened to Lorelei King narrate other books and she's great. In this series she is Charlie, and she does all the characters fantastic. You always know who's speaking. I hope she continues to do the voice of Charlie.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed, I was emotional, I enjoyed this book because it really showed how Charlie not only comes into her powers, but never stops being a caring human being.....even though she's really not a human being, as we would define her.

Any additional comments?

I'm really looking forward to the next book. I hope we don't have to wait to long, but if it's as good as this one and Lorelei King narrates, I know it will be fantastic. Thank you Darynda Jones for your great paranormal series :)

When I Grow Up, I Want To Be Charlie

Though it's the seventh book in the series, none of it has gotten stale for me.The characters still make me giggle and swoon, the plot still has me on the edge of my seat, and the ending still has me raptly anticipating the next installment. I adore Ms. Jones's writing, and Ms. King's narration is perfection!

One of my favorite series!

I agree with all the glowing reviews of this wonderful series. And Lorelei King's narration is so skilled and so perfect for all the characters. She's amazing in her talent to capture each character with a totally identifiable vocal quality.

I love Charley and Reyes with all their passion (lots more delicious sex in this book) and Osh (spelling?) and Uncle Bob and...you get the point.

Darynda Jones has a wonderful writing style and I can't wait for the next book that I hope she hurries up and writes before I have too much caffeine.

More Charley

Setting: Albuquerque, NM contemporary
Genre: Paranormal romance
To be honest, I was a bit disappointed in this foray into Charley Davidson's world. It was very slow going at times, and I got impatient with the lack of action. Also, Charley was just TSTL sometimes, doing things she knew she shouldn't. I guess stupid is a plot device, but it seemed more heavily in use in this book than the others. It's hard to reconcile the snarky, silly woman with her supposed importance to the world. Maybe that dichotomy is just too diverse to work for me. Also, the plot was kind of thin in my opinion, with the main plot (suicides that weren't) subsumed by the base plot that has run through all the books (the possible end of the world and Charley and company's role in it). The dialogue was, as usual, funny, and I laughed out loud several times. But no matter how entertaining it was, it just couldn't carry the book by itself. Will I listen to the next one? Probably, but I'll wait until others have read and reviewed it.
Lorelei King gave an excellent performance. Her pacing and inflection, as well as her vocal range, give voice to the characters such that you are pulled into the story. I have enjoyed every narration of hers that I've heard.
