Publisher's Summary

From number-one New York Times best-selling author Nora Roberts comes a trilogy about the land we’re drawn to, the family we learn to cherish, and the people we long to love.…

With the legends and lore of Ireland running through his blood, falconer Connor O’Dwyer is proud to call County Mayo home. It’s where his sister, Branna, lives and works, where his cousin, Iona, has found true love, and where his childhood friends form a circle that can’t be broken….

A circle that is about to be stretched out of shape - by a long-awaited kiss.

Meara Quinn is Branna’s best friend, a sister in all but blood. Her and Connor’s paths cross almost daily, as Connor takes tourists on hawk walks and Meara guides them on horseback across the lush countryside. She has the eyes of a gypsy and the body of a goddess…things Connor has always taken for granted - until his brush with death propels them into a quick, hot tangle.

Plenty of women have found their way to Connor’s bed, but none to his heart until now. Frustratingly, Meara is okay with just the heat, afraid to lose herself - and their friendship - to something more. But soon, Connor will see the full force and fury of what runs in his blood. And he will need his family and friends around him when his past rolls in like the fog, threatening an end to all he loves….

Terrible narrating - good story

The narrating of this story was the worst I’ve experienced. The narrator was clipped and awkward- which really spoiled the tale. After listening to the first, the story line predictable but still a good love story. I’m sure I already know how Cahill dies and the tale of the three ends but I still look forward to hearing it, that is unwell it is read by the same (at which point o will ask for a refund and by the Kindle version).

Jm

Did not like the voice or the sample chosen for the book. Confusing. Thought it wasn’t the next book in series. Preferred the voice in the previous book.

Story good, narrator not

What did you love best about Shadow Spell?

I enjoyed the story overall, but have to agree with other reviewers that it was a predictable storyline. I've read a lot of Nora Roberts, and truley enjoy her writing, but it does seem that the plots are along the same lines especially when it comes to her trilogies.

Would you be willing to try another one of Alan Smyth’s performances?

No, his cadence was terrible. He paused in the most awkward places and his emphasis was placed on off syllables and words.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Need a new narrator

He butchered the book to the point of being painful. Makes so many pauses that you cannot follow the story line. Would like my money back!

Reading is better!

The narrator is horrible. The sentences are choppy and difficult to listen to. The sentences are read like someone just learning how to read. I will be reading this book instead of listening to it.

Loved the book not the voice

The book has such a great story, but it was hard for me to get passed the voice. He does a stop and go when he's reading and it sounds choppy. Was not a fan at all. The first book I zoomed right through I couldn't get enough...this one took longer cause I cringed every time he'd read a speaking line...it's like putting.a.period.after.every.word. Too frustrating for me

Disappointed

It was so hard it concentrate on the plot because the narration was so bad. It was choppy and there was no inflection in the voice so you don’t know which character is talking. It’s a great book but I’ll have to read it.

Horrible women's voices

The women's voices in this narration made them all sound like men. Not the slightest bit feminine. Did not make me envision them as they were described. The narrators range was not enough to handle this many voices, even some of the men's voices were not good.

Good story TERRIBLE NARRATOR

The narrator was so hard to listen to I was tempted to just stopped listening. His choppy and horrible Irish accent distracted from the story. Do yourself a favor and read it your self.
