Publisher's Summary

From number-one New York Times best-selling author Nora Roberts comes a trilogy about the land we’re drawn to, the family we learn to cherish, and the people we long to love.…

With the legends and lore of Ireland running through his blood, falconer Connor O’Dwyer is proud to call County Mayo home. It’s where his sister, Branna, lives and works, where his cousin, Iona, has found true love, and where his childhood friends form a circle that can’t be broken….

A circle that is about to be stretched out of shape - by a long-awaited kiss.

Meara Quinn is Branna’s best friend, a sister in all but blood. Her and Connor’s paths cross almost daily, as Connor takes tourists on hawk walks and Meara guides them on horseback across the lush countryside. She has the eyes of a gypsy and the body of a goddess…things Connor has always taken for granted - until his brush with death propels them into a quick, hot tangle.

Plenty of women have found their way to Connor’s bed, but none to his heart until now. Frustratingly, Meara is okay with just the heat, afraid to lose herself - and their friendship - to something more. But soon, Connor will see the full force and fury of what runs in his blood. And he will need his family and friends around him when his past rolls in like the fog, threatening an end to all he loves….

Story good, narrator not

What did you love best about Shadow Spell?

I enjoyed the story overall, but have to agree with other reviewers that it was a predictable storyline. I've read a lot of Nora Roberts, and truley enjoy her writing, but it does seem that the plots are along the same lines especially when it comes to her trilogies.

Would you be willing to try another one of Alan Smyth’s performances?

No, his cadence was terrible. He paused in the most awkward places and his emphasis was placed on off syllables and words.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Need a new narrator

He butchered the book to the point of being painful. Makes so many pauses that you cannot follow the story line. Would like my money back!

Reading is better!

The narrator is horrible. The sentences are choppy and difficult to listen to. The sentences are read like someone just learning how to read. I will be reading this book instead of listening to it.

Loved the book not the voice

The book has such a great story, but it was hard for me to get passed the voice. He does a stop and go when he's reading and it sounds choppy. Was not a fan at all. The first book I zoomed right through I couldn't get enough...this one took longer cause I cringed every time he'd read a speaking line...it's like putting.a.period.after.every.word. Too frustrating for me

terrible narration

I couldn't last fifteen minutes. The Narrator speaks with such a broken staccato , that it's difficult to follow the story, not to mention irritating.

The most horrible narration!!

I read this book yrs ago and would have never finished the audio book if it wasn't a part of a series. The narration was absolutely horrible...it was painful to listen too. This man was actually paid for this horrid narration! The inflection he used and the holting read was dreadful!! Will never listen to a book he narrates again .

Narrator murdered this book!!

The book itself is great however the narrator murdered it. He’s terrible and does frequent pauses. I couldn’t even get past chapter one! I agree with the other review here! This needs to be redone with a different narrator!
I too would like a refund!

Narrator was not good.

I love anything written by NR, but please don't use this narrator again. So choppy and stilted and the men's voices were so weird. Made me want to just go buy the book and read it myself, but I listen while I'm working. Difficult to listen to.
