Publisher's Summary

From number-one New York Times best-selling author Nora Roberts comes a trilogy about the land we’re drawn to, the family we learn to cherish, and the people we long to love.…

With the legends and lore of Ireland running through his blood, falconer Connor O’Dwyer is proud to call County Mayo home. It’s where his sister, Branna, lives and works, where his cousin, Iona, has found true love, and where his childhood friends form a circle that can’t be broken….

A circle that is about to be stretched out of shape - by a long-awaited kiss.

Meara Quinn is Branna’s best friend, a sister in all but blood. Her and Connor’s paths cross almost daily, as Connor takes tourists on hawk walks and Meara guides them on horseback across the lush countryside. She has the eyes of a gypsy and the body of a goddess…things Connor has always taken for granted - until his brush with death propels them into a quick, hot tangle.

Plenty of women have found their way to Connor’s bed, but none to his heart until now. Frustratingly, Meara is okay with just the heat, afraid to lose herself - and their friendship - to something more. But soon, Connor will see the full force and fury of what runs in his blood. And he will need his family and friends around him when his past rolls in like the fog, threatening an end to all he loves….

Story good, narrator not

What did you love best about Shadow Spell?

I enjoyed the story overall, but have to agree with other reviewers that it was a predictable storyline. I've read a lot of Nora Roberts, and truley enjoy her writing, but it does seem that the plots are along the same lines especially when it comes to her trilogies.

Would you be willing to try another one of Alan Smyth’s performances?

No, his cadence was terrible. He paused in the most awkward places and his emphasis was placed on off syllables and words.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Need a new narrator

He butchered the book to the point of being painful. Makes so many pauses that you cannot follow the story line. Would like my money back!

Reading is better!

The narrator is horrible. The sentences are choppy and difficult to listen to. The sentences are read like someone just learning how to read. I will be reading this book instead of listening to it.

Loved the book not the voice

The book has such a great story, but it was hard for me to get passed the voice. He does a stop and go when he's reading and it sounds choppy. Was not a fan at all. The first book I zoomed right through I couldn't get enough...this one took longer cause I cringed every time he'd read a speaking line...it's like putting.a.period.after.every.word. Too frustrating for me

Draws you in.

Everything about this book I love. I was cheering them on, and loving every second of each chapter. Could not and would not stop listening till the end. The Queen did it again. All Hail Nora Roberts!!!!

Not the full book

This is missing whole parts of the actual book. You miss part of the story and not worth the buy to me. Seriously why?? Returned this book. Really ticked me off as a book lover and made me wonder what other books are missing information or parts of the book. I thought it was a mistake that at the beginning of the book it starts with the kids already having left their home.

review by Lorelei: Nora Roberts Shadow spell

the story is not what I anticipated. I've read so many wonderful books by Nora Roberts but this story was I'm sorry just mediocre and the performance by Alan Smyth was really really not very good. I couldn't hold my interest reading the book about let's just say listening to the book and was very disappointed by it.

Wasn't as good as the 1st book. The narrator didn't do it for me. I loved the lady reading.
