Publisher's Summary

Why, oh why couldn’t he have plot armor?

After waking up as a "bad guy" inside his favorite anime, stopping a royal kidnapping, and headbutting one of his character's bullies, Aren was finally ready to begin his academy arc...but then the plot screwed him over.

Something is stirring in the mountains, and it’s driving the native monsters wild, forcing them to migrate toward the academy. And not even the academy, with all its enchantments and defensive barriers, could survive unscathed if they decided to attack.

To make matters worse, the students of the academy are acting strange. They're treating Aren like he's the villain he was written to be, and he can't imagine why. Only Kami has remained by his side through it all. If they somehow manage to survive the horde of monsters heading their way, Aren and his fellow students will soon be forced onto an entirely different battlefield.

But, hey, at least Aren is the only one who knows the truth of a far-off future and can act to prevent the worst from coming to pass...right?

From Kenneth Arant, best-selling author of All-Knowing Novice (Clanless Cultivator) and A Snake's Life, comes a new adventure that takes every anime trope and flips them on their head!

Great story. Some editing needed

I enjoyed the story but the narration left a bit to be desired. I think a voice change was used for the female lead. It made it sound like the characters voice was spoken through a narrow tin tube. I managed to focus more on the story, which was good, then on the bad editing. Not sure why the voice of the female lead changed so much from the first book which was good, to this tin can sound. If it ain't broke dont fix it... Too bad there is no book three for this as I would listen to it ( just go back to book 1 female lead narration style).
This story is like audio book junk food.

It could have used "more".

I'm the bad guy is an interesting take of isekai, that "nopes" out of red flags and tropes. It is funny and pretty interesting. My gripe? I don't think the author put a lot of effort or meat into the story, like he does in his other works. Still it is a fun experience; which was marred by mediocre narration. It was difficult to take the story seriously when the narrator just decided to inhale helium, when playing the side female character. Instead of the the princess and the protagonist love interests, we got a someone from the lollipop guild. So, it was too short and presentation was "meh".
