Publisher's Summary

A T'au Empire Audiobook

Commander Shadowsun is an ice-cold military genius – but will her patient stratagems be enough to protect all she holds dear from the Death Guard's infectious touch?

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

See an iconic t'au hero tested like never before, as she strives to confront a horrifying Legion empowered by eldritch forces beyond her logical understanding.

THE STORY

Commander O’Shaserra, better known as Shadowsun, is an ice-cold military genius celebrated across the Chalnath Expanse. She is the master of the stealth battlesuit assault and the Kauyon metastrategy – a philosophy of war that emulates the Patient Hunter. But how to lay a trap for the Chaos-worshipping warriors of the Death Guard, whose ancient technology allows their fleet to rip holes in space? And how to deal with their daemonic patrons, who defy the laws of physics and shatter the logical methods that Shadowsun holds so dear?

With her forces spread far and wide on the dark side of the Great Rift, Shadowsun must respond to a surprise attack on the Startide Nexus wormhole portal. Worse yet, as hidden atrocities and treacheries are laid bare, the threat of civil war simmers between the t'au and their allies.

If she is to stand a chance, the t'au's finest commander will have to improvise, trust to instinct, and face the unnatural echoes of her empire's own dark secrets.

Fantastic tau book

If you’re a fan of the tau you will enjoy this book. Getting a story featuring shadowsuns strategies, and combat prowess is a great change of pace from the usual marine centric stories. You may like this even more if you prefer classic tau over the farsight enclaves. All and all a very cool book.

Epic Battles, Deep Introspection

The fights in her prototype stealth suit are a refreshing change from the norm of 40k

Not the best, but certainly not the worst!

This was my first foray into the 40k universe's novels. I've heard praise of twice dead king, kingmaker, and The Infinite and The Divine. with Tau being my army of choice and Farsight being an impossible mini to get my hands on, I thought it best to learn about the commander I do have at the helm of my army. Shadowsun.

This book gave some great insight to the character herself as well as the culture she grew up in, a fine jumping off point. The battles, environments, and even descriptions of gear I found difficult to get a clear image in my head. sometimes it worked, most times not. And that may just be my interpretation of the book. But you may encounter some confusion yourself.

I'm glad I listened to it. I was hoping for a more Eurasian take on the voices rather than a flawless English accent. the Kroot was near flawless, all be it more feminine than the character presented in the writing.
