Publisher's Summary

Betrayed by the love of her life at 16, causing her to flee her home, Amber Daniels’ taste in men hasn’t improved over time. With a bitter divorce under her belt, she returns home to support her sisters and dying mother.

It takes one day before she finds herself in trouble with the local werewolves and being rescued by her childhood crush. One hot look and the pain returns...overshadowed only by the desire. But Amber’s older, wiser, and unwilling to be burned, yet again.

Desmon Nightwind was an angry youth the night his world exploded and he lost his mate. Now pack alpha, he’s no longer an untried teen, but still wholly unprepared for Amber’s return to Hollow Mountain. He lost her once. No amount of pack politics, family strife, or alpha obligations will make him let her go a second time.

He’ll do whatever it takes to claim and protect his human mate. Even battle neighboring wolves using anything at their disposal to start a war. They don’t fight fair...and neither will Desmon.

Was Missing Something

This book missed the mark for me. Overall a good story and plot but it seemed really rushed. It also seemed a bit unrealistic that the female character was really against being in a relationship with the male character and then all of a sudden she wants to be with him with no lingering doubts. Just didn't seem very realistic.

it's a good addition to the series

this book is a lovely addition to the series The narration was well done and the story was easy-to-follow really good I like how it brings up the previous couple but it's about a new couple and the concept of the past indifferent relations and really honing in on how different the different packs are this one's intense but really good as usual with thought this particular authors it's a really great time and I would definitely recommend the book.

A Good Listen Except...

There were several chapters that skipped words. The sentence would start and then a word or two would be skipped. I thought it was a fluke but it happened in (started) Chapter 12 several times and then here and there in the other chapters. It was as if you fast forwarded a few seconds. I went back and did a rewind thinking it would fix it but it did not. I deleted and then downloaded again but it also did not help. The story was good and I really liked it. I am hoping for more in this series.

Great Wolf Shifter Book

I’m not that great at writing words as I am with reading them. But this was an incredibly good wolf shifter book to listen to. Not only was the story well written but the narration was done very well. I highly recommend this book!

A good read, marred by technical difficulties.

I've listened to quite a shocking number of Laurann Dohner's books. She really knows how to set the stage in a way that a variety of characters can take center stage in individual books. I enjoy the series books because, as a reader, you get a feel for the atmosphere, the setting, and the supporting characters that can't be had in stand-alone editions. Shattered is no exception in the writing, character development, and setting. Regrettably, it is an exception when it comes to production values. In early chapters, the voices were clearly added later -- the volume, tone, and intonation were not in sync with the storyline. It was off-putting and, at times, made me lurch for the volume control. In too many (three that I can recall) later chapters, the audio cuts off the character's last few words. While I can fill in the blanks and surmise the conversational intent, it rips me out of the story and back to my reality, which is the last thing I want in a fantasy romance novel. Hello? I'm here to escape, remember? The technical difficulties are such that I hesitate to collect any more of Ms. Dohner's books. I want to cocoon myself in the fantasy, not leap up to adjust the volume. I can only hope that Ms. Dohner or Ms. Moon read these reviews since I have no way to contact either on their websites. I certainly hope that they find the production company that can provide them with a quality product.

Amber and Desmond

This was a really good book except for a few technical issues. In parts of the recording, the last word or words of some of the sentences were clippped. Initially Amber tried to come off as tough but she was no match for a shifter. That other pack was something else, especially when they kidnapped her and stuffed a bloody rag in her mouth. YUK! I am so glad things worked out for Amber and Des for now but the door was left open for another book. I loved Miles. He was great! Jaz was good too. Suzanne T. Fortin did a very good job with the narration.

DNF!!!!

Did not finish. I hated every relationship in this book. Zero redeeming characters. I love a good shifter romance, this was not it.

Great story but audio skips

This series is great, but I noticed that this book will occasionally skip like pieces were cut out in editing.

Exciting, sexy, and a little suspenseful

Another very exciting and hot shifter story. Love the characters these ladies have created and look forward to more of this series.

Recalcitrant female lead

You know those stories, with the stupid lead female who is told not to go out into the woods in the dark during a full moon? And then she throws a tantrum about being told what to do or where to go? Well, in that case: spoiler alert! I liked the first book, but not this one - I like strong female leads but not idiots that have little to no self preservation... rubs me the wrong way and ends up being too annoying to make it an enjoyable read.

Missing dialogue.

The story was pretty good. I think. There was quite a bit of missing dialogue and made it a little confusing to understand at times. Needs to be re-recorded.
