Magic runs in the family. Unfortunately, chaos is Paige’s specialty.

When Paige Turner inherits her mother Reed’s knack for attracting magical disasters, she also inherits her mother’s unfinished business—protecting a library of dangerous magical artifacts and keeping the world safe from things better left shelved.

Armed with quick wit, questionable luck, and a snarky teacup dragon named Dewey, Paige faces an ever-growing list of problems: magical artifacts, vengeful undead, interdimensional mishaps, and more surprises than she’s ready for.

But it’s not just about survival. Somewhere in the chaos lies the key to rescuing her mother, Reed, whose mysterious disappearance left Paige to pick up the pieces. As she fends off magical calamities and shadowy enemies, Paige learns that protecting the world isn’t just about wielding power—it’s about finding herself along the way.

This complete series includes all eight laugh-out-loud books and the prequel novella that started it all. If you love slapstick humor, quirky characters, and fantasy worlds brimming with unpredictable magic hidden just below the real world's surface, Shelving Magic is your next binge obsession.

Get ready to laugh, gasp, and cheer as Paige turns magical mishaps into heroic triumphs—one disaster at a time.

it is an easy series to listen to, although there are a few repetative things that rubbed me the wrong way after listening to the whole series ( like.the CONSTANT doomsday whining of the two main characters when they face a new challenge), Character development moved along nicely and each book has new, interesting challenges. The large variety of settings, situations and challenges was impressive, with timely problem solving or rescues. It wasn't nail-biting action, but enough to hold my attention. But the overuse of a few phrases bacame a little grating...."put his finger through his hair/ wiggled their eyebrows/ cocked a hip". I also wish Devons character had more development. The book The Shadow Witch is interesting but it is more about Paige's personal challenges and less about librarian business, still a LOT of new scenery and challenge areas. I would still say I enjoyed the first book the most. But i listened for days while doing my days work around the house, and I dont regret having listened to the series.

a pleasant read

The concept and characters could have been great. the books started out with an intriguing murder/dusappearance. the adult tone devolves quickly into a young adult style. The author overuses description and nicknames to the point of being super annoying. The characters are all juvenile and spend much of their time bickering like preteens, instead of a woman in her 30s and a dragon that is hundreds of years old. As a result they get themselves into stupid circumstances that make you hate them all, like being trapped on a school bus with a bunch of self involved whiny brats. They never grow or become more prepared, despite having multiple life threatening situations. With a better edit to reduce the 'chiseled jaw' and 'washboard abs' decriptions, fewer OMGs, lowered voices, and more adult romantic relationships, the entire book could be great.

Reads like a children's book.

This series should be awful. The narration voices are annoying for some of the characters, there are no real likeable characters, things just "magically" resolve, the love interest changes dramatically within chapters, and is whiny to boot, and there are certain things that just repeat (ie phrases, situations etc)

However, as the story goes on, it becomes more and more charming, more humorous, and more intriguing. I dont write reviews often at all, but I was so glad I stuck it out with this one. It's a lot of fun, childlike, silly and stupid, and if you like those traits, and you can deal with being annoyed, then you'll also love it. Eventually, all the things that annoyed me started to make me such, and I outright laughed at least once in the first half (which rarely happens for me)

Great job by the author. I'm not sure how this was pulled off, since it literally should be just awful, lol

unexpectedly good
