The ideas and some of the worldbuilding in the story itself are interesting, but the tone and the execution are very uneven. Battles are often well described, but everything else varies wildly. Which also unfortunately leaks into the plot as it tries to get more complex. Especially shows in book 2, where there's very little consistency in events, threats and even sometimes the characters. I made it to book 3, even after the fake romance baiting, but had to return it after one session. Every element of why we should be rooting or care for the MC gets erased through secondary characters actions early on and I don't trust the writing to redeem it satisfyingly. As events just becoming more and more contrived, with a lot of it towards what I assume was intended to be shock value but which has no emotional weight or meaningful reaction from other characters to carry it. I also appreciate that Aethon as the publisher replaced the terrible AI covers that don't even match descriptions with real art.
Overall, if you like the concept and are looking for a very casual reading experience, this might be okay though.
