À propos de cet audio

Sidney Crosby is ready to tell his story in his own words. As one of the greatest NHL players of all time, he reflects on his 2005-06 rookie season with the Pittsburgh Penguins. From a Canadian phenom dubbed “the next Gretzky” to an 18-year-old carrying the burden of a struggling franchise, he talks candidly about the intense pressure he was under, the surreal experience of lacing up alongside his childhood idol Mario Lemieux and the truth about his rivalry with Alex Ovechkin. Sidney Crosby, with the help of his family, coaches and former teammates, gives listeners an all-access pass to one of the most scrutinized and tumultuous rookie seasons in the history of professional hockey. Hosted by Pittsburgh native and Penguins fan Joe Manganiello.

The nine-time NHL All-Star has also starred internationally for Team Canada on several occasions, including winning gold medals in both the 2010 and 2014 Olympic Games, with his overtime goal in the 2010 gold medal game against the United States known as the ''Golden Goal.'' In May 2015, Crosby became the 26th player to enter the International Ice Hockey Federation’s (IIHF) Triple Gold Club, achieved by winning the Stanley Cup and gold medals at both the Olympics and World Championship.

Crosby, a two-time Emmy Award winner, has multiple commitments to community and charitable efforts. He founded both the Sidney Crosby Foundation and Sidney Crosby's Little Penguins program, which has provided free hockey equipment and lessons to over 13,000 youths in the Pittsburgh area since 2008. He has also purchased a private suite at PPG Paints Arena for over 15 years, which he has reserved for use by children's charities in the Pittsburgh area. Crosby is a native of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia.

He is a beautiful human being who just happens to be the best hockey player in the game. As a fellow bluenoser myself, I couldn't be more proud to be represented by him. #bestbluenoserever

Everything you would hope for, from an honest and vulnerable Crosby talking about his flaws and struggles as an 18 year old phenom to teammates explaining what it was like to witness a superstar in the making. You get to hear from everyone from his linemates, his parents to Mario Lemieux. Just extraordinary. 5 stars
