Publisher's Summary

The words blurred as she read the note from the killer. She could feel her blood turning to ice. Shivers ran up and down her spine. "Before you make the biggest mistake of your life, meet me. If you don’t, her blood will be on your hands. She is with me. You know where to find us".

When 25-year-old Beth Mullen returns home, expecting to find her twin Rachel waiting for her, the silent house sends a shiver down her spine. She races upstairs to find her beautiful beloved sister cold in her childhood bed, her sparkling blue eyes closed forever, the morning after attending a glittering party....

Newly engaged Detective Lottie Parker knows that Rachel has been murdered the minute she enters the bedroom. Rachel’s neck is bruised and a shard of glass placed in her throat. Confronted with such a horrifying killing, Lottie wastes no time in pursuing every clue.

While interviewing the partygoers, Lottie discovers that Rachel’s handbag and keys are nowhere to be found. But as she is searching for them, a brilliant young doctor is found murdered with glass in her throat. The doctor was nowhere near the party and Lottie is forced to question everything. Two beautiful young women with the world at their feet have been brutally silenced. Why did the killer need them to die?

Desperate to find proof of what really happened to Rachel that night, Lottie gets close to the hostess of the party, whose two daughters were friends with Rachel. But Lottie’s hunt for the truth is getting under the killer’s skin, and when Lottie’s fiancé Boyd goes missing, will she be able to find him before it’s too late? Or will he too be silenced forever?

A crime thriller from best-selling author Patricia Gibney, with an ending that will blow your mind. If you like Lisa Regan, Robert Dugoni, and Rachel Caine, you’ll be totally hooked by Silent Voices.

enjoyable

Finally we are at a point where the stories can start to focus on mysteries that aren't directly related to Lottie and her family. And this one was good. The plotting was excellent.

My only hesitation? One of the last lines was Lottie supposing that things can't stay positive/stable for long. Oof. An indication of a return to the series' melodramatic roots in the next book? I hope not. This one proves that it's not necessary. The writer can craft an excellent mystery. She doesn't have to rely on soap to make things interesting.

Too long

My 1st and last Lottie May novel. This is an almost 14 hour audible. It takes place in literally a 4 day period with several murders and 4 days before the detective Mays wedding to what seems like a wonderful man. She solves all the murders and goes through all of the suspects which there are about 12 possible suspects within in a 4 day period? And she really doesn’t pay that much attention to her children or marriage or anything else til she solves the murders. She’s like a dog with a bone and the smartest one in the room. Do not care for female narrators unless it’s a possible English romance novel. All the characters sounded very similar and I had to catch it when the narrator would say who was speaking. Boyd said or Maddie said or Jessica said. I get it. It’s supposed to keep you guessing of “who done it” with so many suspects. But no. Not for me.

Lottie always catches the bad guy!

Lottie may not always do things by the book but she always catches the criminal. Lottie and team investigate a series of horrific murders and search for a link between the victims. All while Lottie and Boyd are planning their wedding for later that week. Good story.

Irish Murder Capital

My how this little city has a serial Murder streak every 6 months! The characters I this book display a serious lack of professionalism. All the same I enjoyed this and I believe the novels get better with each new installment.

Another Great Page Turner

I absolutely love DI Parker and her development as a character. Gunnery knows how to keep you guessing about who the killer is in every novel and it was no different in this one. I enjoyed the twist in the end and I hope that this series never ends. To Ragmullen with love.

Figured it out….

So I thought! But I was wrong. It is an exciting, clever story with an equally great twist at the end! Diabolical killer, with awful methods. Looking forward to the next installment of Lottie and Boyd!

Good but characters easily confused

The book was really good but there were two pairs of sisters and at times it was difficulty to keep them straight.
