Marriage in Greek Mythology

This was a short story about a married couple. Together for over twenty years, she is a teacher of Greek mythology and he is a money man. We learn that all is not well in the home, while she loves her husband, he is a control freak who chases other women. Most of the story is a background in the relationship, including several attempts at therapy. I'd have hit the divorce lawyer and kicked his ass to the curb with full alimony. She had other plans. I won't ruin the twist. It was rather interesting. Perfectly narrated on the audiobook by Amy McFadden. Lots of Greek mythology references.

I love Laura Lippman

Great short story in true Lippmann style. That means it's good. Listen to her books too.

Kinda boring

This was a slow story. It wasn’t that exciting. I would’ve given 3 stars, but that’s pretty much my rating for books I like or even sometimes kinda like a little. There was no way this was worth 3 stars. I guess if you’ve got an hour to spare and want to complete the “Hush” series - it won’t be a complete waste of time...but damn near

Pretty Good for a Short Story

Story kept me engaged from start to end; this is still difficult to do even with short stories. The story ended with an unexpected and smart twist; I just felt like the “wrap up” at the very end, was rushed and could have been told better ...but this didn’t ruin story for me. I enjoyed.

Really just not for me.

It's a lot of one sided social commentary. It was hard to get invested. The twist was pretty good. Ultimately I don't not think the way the two main characters interact with each other is real. Even for a tense unwanted relationship it seemed off.

Thank you Audible for this free short story. I loved the tie- in with mythology. Didn't see that twist coming at the end!

Fun

A truly good short story. I liked the way the narrative was presented, via texts with some insight from the main character in between. It had a good build up and the twist was somewhat expected but also still good.

Hell hath no fury...

Hell hath no fury...Liz promised not to spy on her husband after she found out about his affair. She didn’t, not really, but his ineptitude made it easy for her to “follow” his affair with the same woman.
Liz, a classic teacher at a private school gave her inspiration on how to deal with her cheating husband. Phil, the money man in the entertainment business, was impressed with himself.
What a great twisted ending.
The narrator was excellent and brought this short story to life.

Narrator is beyond annoying

Perhaps the bubbly suburban soccer mom way in which the narrator read this fits, but it was beyond annoying, almost to the point of unbearable. A decent story tho. Highly recommend you read this one instead of listening to it.

Great ending

I though, "just another cheating husband / jealous wife" story. Eye-opening surprise ending; follow the clues.
