Publisher's Summary

World-renowned biohacker and bestselling author Dave Asprey reveals how to maximize your well-being with the minimum effort, by taking control of your body’s operating system

If you want to lose weight, boost your energy, or sharpen your mind, there are shelves of books offering myriad styles of advice. If you want to build up your strength and cardio fitness, there are plenty of gyms and trainers ready to offer you their guidance. What all of these resources have in common is they offer you a bad deal: a lot of effort for a little payoff. Dave Asprey has found a better way.

In Smarter Not Harder, the proven master of biohacking exposes the surprising secrets of your body’s operating system, or its “MeatOS.” That system is naturally designed to be lazy, which is why sweaty exercise routines and rigid diets produce such limited effects. Dave shows us how to hack the MeatOS and make it do what we want it to do, turning it from obstacle into ally. The key to achieving optimum wellness, he reveals, isn’t about doing more, it’s about doing less—exercising and eating smarter, not harder, and making the body’s built in laziness work for you.

Smarter Not Harder is not a diet nor a fitness plan. It is a system of targeted biohacks aimed at upgrading your metabolic, neurological, and epigenetic systems. Packed with practical, accessible information on better eating; smart workouts that give you more strength and energy in less time; and strategic therapies to reduce stress and boost resilience—Smarter Not Harder will show you how to achieve lasting health in less time.

Helpful and engaging

I loved how relatable and accessible all of the information is. All of the hacks are structured so that people can start accessing them ASAP.

Great info

Great info but too science based for me. It is however great info if you want a nutritional based information.

Overcomplicated methodology

I appreciate all the experience Dave has in his feild of research. However, this book has seriously overcomplicated the simplicity of health and wellness. While these tips may provide short term energy benefits, most of the information is in conflict with some of the best scientific evidence available and may even be detrimental to your health long term. Looking at the diet and lifestyle of centenarians in blue zones around the world will demonstrate the flaws in these methods. Check out The Longevity Diet by Valter Longo. Keep it simple and don't avoid healthy whole foods.

Stellar

Valuable addition to the Dave Asprey library. I have the majority of his books and have been "Bulletproof" for exactly 4 years ti the day. A phenomenal lifestyle change that I have been continuosly reaping the rewards of. This book is filled with valuable and current information so I can continue the journey. I really appreciate the fact that Dave continues to evolve, dissect his experiences and the new science so we can all benefit from it. Having the detailed information he has provided throughout his books is by far the best bang for your buck if you are interested in living a healthy life. I am in my fifties and feel better than I did in my thirties, added bonus, I reversed some very significant health issues. Thank You Dave!

Good info mixed with some upselling

This book overall is fairly informative, however a good chunk of it includes selling you on technologies or supplements that the author is vested in. But in his defence he does give you alternate ways of doing things which does not include his companies, which I found to be an honest tactic.

There is a lot of information and even if you take away and implement a quarter of the book's suggestions, you'll be healthier.

Only part I do not agree with overall in the book is that I believe you should push yourself hard at the gym, ask athletes and elite military people, hard work does bear fruit.
