À propos de cet audio

Ultrarunner Andy Glaze has spent years moving through landscapes that test the limits of the human body—hundred-mile races, multi-day marathons, mountains and deserts that demanded everything. But the toughest endurance challenge Andy faced wasn’t found in any of those miles, it was in rebuilding a life shattered by addiction, institutional abuse, and a childhood full of chaos. This is the unfiltered story of how a kid fell hard but got back up even harder.

From a wilderness rehab program where kids hiked for days without food, to a “therapeutic” boarding school run by predators, Glaze survived places that were meant to break people. But this isn’t just a story about the wreckage. It’s about what comes after.

Firefighting. Fatherhood. Finding peace on trails where every step hurts like hell but heals something deeper. Because the difference between a life ruled by fear and a life guided by possibility comes down to one simple act: taking the first step.

This memoir is about endurance in its rawest form: the endurance to keep moving forward even when it feels impossible, to rebuild a life one step at a time, and to discover that sometimes the only way through the darkness is to keep going—and smile, or you’re doing it wrong.

Nothing could have prepared me for the journey this book took me on. I laughed a lot, I cried even more. But what I didn’t expect was how much this book would teach me about myself. Andy shares his scars with us all and it makes the world seem a little less lonely. This is a great book for anyone looking for the motivating to change. Great job Andy.

If you didn’t cry you read this book wrong

I have been an OG Andy fan for a few years now and truly didn’t know his full story. What an incredible story of resilience, grit, and overcoming. Was running and added an extra hour just to keep listening.

Had me in tears

This is a great book!! Being only two years younger than Andy I can relate wholeheartedly with a lot of the struggles he endured throughout his youth. This book really hit close to home. The positivity that this man spreads is all inspiring in itself. I thank him a lot for sharing.

Highly recommended

Ive followed Andy since the pandemic and he showed up on my strava doing some crazy mileage. Ive listened to many podcasts with Andy but hearing his story in this way hits different. I was able to listen to it in a short few days but his story is raw and has something for everyone, not just runners. I caught myself laughing and crying along with him throught the book. Thank you for being vulnerable enough to share your story with us. Your words and wisdom will stay with me. I think anyone can find inspiration through this book, not just fellow runners.

something for everyone
