Definitely a set up for future books, but was still really enjoyable. The magic system is introduced organically in the story instead of smacked into your head with explanation, which was nice.

The narrators performance was good overall but the recording lacked clarity, seemed kind of washed out from time to time and I had to go back to listen to a section more than I would like.

The story is a coming of age, hero's quest with magic and tech. The story is a good origin piece but it's the characters that stand out. I'm looking forward to future installments to see where and how the MC and side characters progress.
